About the Role:
A leading environmental and planning consultancy is seeking a Principal Digital Graphic Artist (Planning) to provide technical leadership across its planning visualisation services. This is a senior position suited to an experienced Digital Graphic Artist with extensive expertise in planning visualisations, verified views and photomontages, particularly for complex infrastructure and development projects. You will take ownership of major visualisation projects across Ireland and the UK, providing technical direction from methodology and project planning through to final review and sign-off. The position combines hands-on technical expertise with leadership, commercial and operational responsibilities. You will manage multidisciplinary inputs, client relationships, project programmes and resources while supporting the development of a specialist Graphics team. You will also help establish technical standards, workflows and training while identifying new technologies and innovative approaches to visualisation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the delivery of complex planning visualisations, verified views and photomontages.
- Act as a technical authority for visualisation methodologies, standards and quality assurance.
- Provide final technical review and sign-off on visualisation outputs.
- Manage multidisciplinary inputs, project programmes, resources and deliverables.
- Interpret and challenge complex drawings, plans, models and design information.
- Lead client interactions and manage key stakeholder relationships.
- Coach and develop members of the Graphics team.
- Help develop technical standards, workflows, processes and training.
- Identify opportunities to introduce new technologies, automation and innovative visualisation techniques.
- Support the continued development of the organisation's visualisation capability.
Requirements:
- Degree in Graphic Design, Digital Media, Visualisation, Illustration, 3D Modelling, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Environmental Design or a related discipline.
- Extensive experience delivering and leading planning visualisations, verified views and photomontages for complex development or infrastructure projects.
- Expert knowledge of visualisation methodologies, industry guidance and technical quality assurance requirements.
- Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud, particularly Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign.
- Strong understanding of GIS, CAD and 3D modelling workflows and their integration into visualisation production.
- Proven experience providing technical leadership, governance and final review of visualisation outputs.
- Excellent understanding of photography, panorama creation, image processing and advanced photomontage techniques.
- Ability to confidently interpret complex technical drawings, plans, models and design information.
- Strong leadership experience, including coaching and developing colleagues.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with proven client and stakeholder management experience.
Desirable Experience:
- Experience acting as technical lead on strategic infrastructure, renewable energy, transport or major planning projects.
- Experience supporting planning appeals, oral hearings or major consultation processes.
- Experience implementing AI, automation or innovative visualisation technologies within controlled quality frameworks.
- Chartered status or membership of a relevant professional body.
