Job Title

Principal Engineer, DNA Platforms

About your role:

As Principal Engineer, DNA Platforms, you will define architecture, engineering strategy, and technical direction for critical platforms and services. You will partner with engineering leaders, product leaders, architects, and business stakeholders to solve complex technical challenges across multiple teams. Your leadership will help advance modernization, scalability, reliability, security, and engineering excellence for solutions that support client outcomes.

You will be viewed as a trusted technical advisor and architect who influences engineering strategy across multiple teams. You will balance strategic thinking with hands-on technical depth and drive technical excellence thought influence rather than direct management authority.

What you'll do:

  • Define the technical vision, long-term architecture, and engineering roadmap for DNA Platforms.
  • Lead solution design, architecture reviews, and technical decision-making for complex, multi-team initiatives.
  • Design scalable, secure, resilient, and maintainable software platforms using distributed systems, application programming interfaces (APIs), and cloud-native architecture patterns.
  • Guide modernization efforts, platform engineering practices, automation, tooling, and continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) adoption.
  • Establish engineering standards, design principles, technical governance, and measurable practices for software quality, observability, performance, reliability, and security.
  • Manage, coach, and develop engineers and engineering managers through regular feedback, technical guidance, and performance conversations.
  • Lead technical forums, design reviews, and knowledge-sharing practices that build engineering capability across geographically distributed teams.
  • Responsibilities listed are not intended to be all-inclusive and may be modified as necessary.

Experience you'll need to have:

  • 12+ years of experience in software engineering, including architecture and delivery of large-scale enterprise platforms.
  • 8+ years of experience managing and developing teams in engineering, architecture, or platform technology functions.
  • 10+ years of experience designing distributed systems, APIs, cloud-native architectures, and modern software delivery practices.
  • 8+ years of experience applying security, reliability, performance, scalability, observability, and maintainability principles to production systems.
  • Experience influencing engineering strategy, technical standards, and delivery decisions across multiple teams or organizational boundaries.
  • Experience with development, security and operations (DevSecOps), site reliability engineering practices, automation, tooling, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field or equivalent combination of education, related experience and/or military experience.

Experience that would be great to have:

  • Experience with financial technology, banking, payments, risk, or fraud platforms.
  • Experience leading platform modernization, cloud adoption, or developer productivity initiatives.
  • Knowledge of artificial intelligence (AI)-assisted development, platform engineering, and engineering metrics.
  • Experience working with geographically distributed engineering organizations.

How you'll work:

  • This role requires use of a computer and audio equipment.

Travel:

This role requires occasional travel (up to 10%).

This role is not eligible to be performed in Colorado, California, District of Columbia, Hawaii, Illinois, Massachusetts, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Nevada, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia, Maine or Washington.
