Are you passionate about software quality, test automation, and safety-critical engineering? Do you enjoy solving complex verification challenges and building automation solutions that improve engineering efficiency?
Join our team as a Principal Verification Engineer – Avionics V&V & Test Automation and help deliver high-quality avionics software through rigorous verification, intelligent automation, and industry-leading safety standards.
The Opportunity
We are looking for a talented Software Engineer with 10–14 years of experience to contribute to software Verification and Validation (V&V) for safety-critical avionics systems.
In this role, you will work across software verification, hardware-software integration, structural coverage analysis, resource margin analysis, and test automation. You will develop tools using C# and Python to streamline verification activities, improve test coverage, and drive greater automation across the software verification lifecycle.
Working closely with cross-functional engineering teams, you will help ensure that avionics software meets stringent aerospace quality and certification requirements, including DO-178B/C.
If you enjoy combining software engineering expertise with analytical problem-solving and automation innovation, this role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the technologies that power modern aviation.
What You’ll Do
- Drive safety-critical software verification: Perform software Verification and Validation activities in accordance with DO-178B/C guidelines and applicable project requirements.
- Lead hardware-software integration testing: Execute black-box integration testing using emulator-based environments to validate system behavior, interfaces, and functional performance.
- Ensure structural coverage and model quality: Perform structural coverage analysis and model coverage analysis to demonstrate verification completeness and support certification objectives.
- Analyze system resource margins: Conduct memory, stack usage, and timing margin analysis to assess software resource utilization and support reliable system performance.
- Build intelligent test automation: Develop and enhance verification tools using C# and Python to maximize test automation, improve repeatability, and reduce manual verification effort. Experience with NI LabVIEW will be an added advantage.
- Verify avionics communication interfaces: Work with communication protocols such as CAN, ARINC 429, AFDX, and Time-Triggered Protocol to support robust avionics system integration.
- Manage configuration and change control: Use engineering and configuration management tools such as Polarion, IBM DOORS, Synergy, and TortoiseSVN to maintain traceability, manage changes, and support controlled software development.
- Collaborate across engineering teams: Engage with Strategic Business Units (SBUs) and cross-functional stakeholders for technical discussions, issue resolution, reviews, and demonstrations.
- Contribute to Agile delivery: Participate in Agile engineering activities, including Scrum, Kanban, Program Increment planning, feature development, user story creation, and backlog tracking.
- Drive continuous improvement: Identify opportunities to strengthen verification processes, introduce new technologies, improve automation, and enhance engineering productivity.
- Embrace new technologies: Learn emerging tools and techniques quickly and apply them effectively with minimal dependency on others.
What You’ll Bring
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology (B.E./B.Tech) in a relevant discipline.
- 10–14 years of overall relevant software engineering experience, with 10–14 years of hands-on Verification and Validation experience.
- Proficiency in software verification and validation for safety-critical systems, with practical exposure to DO-178B/C.
- Experience in black-box hardware-software integration testing and emulator-based verification.
- Hands-on experience performing structural coverage analysis and model coverage analysis.
- Experience conducting memory, stack, and timing margin analysis.
- Strong programming skills in C# and Python, particularly for developing verification and test automation tools.
- Knowledge of avionics communication protocols, including CAN, ARINC 429, AFDX, and Time-Triggered Protocol.
- Experience using configuration, requirements, and change management tools such as Polarion, IBM DOORS, Synergy, and TortoiseSVN.
- Understanding of Agile methodologies and experience working in an Agile development environment.
- Strong analytical thinking, debugging, troubleshooting, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience developing automation frameworks and tools to achieve high levels of verification automation.
- Familiarity with NI LabVIEW for test development and automation.
- Experience supporting avionics software certification and verification evidence preparation.
- Exposure to advanced hardware-software integration environments, simulators, and emulators.
- Experience with continuous improvement initiatives focused on test efficiency, coverage, and engineering quality.
- Ability to independently evaluate new technologies and translate them into practical engineering solutions.
How You’ll Make an Impact
Your work will directly contribute to the reliability, quality, and certification readiness of safety-critical avionics software.
- Improve verification efficiency: Develop automation solutions that minimize repetitive manual effort and improve test execution consistency.
- Strengthen software quality: Apply rigorous verification methods to identify defects, validate requirements, and support robust software behavior.
- Support aviation safety: Contribute to engineering practices designed to meet demanding aerospace development and certification standards.
- Enable dependable system integration: Help validate interactions between software, hardware, and avionics communication interfaces.
- Advance engineering innovation: Introduce better tools, techniques, and workflows that enhance productivity and verification effectiveness.
