About the role: Principal Architects are expected to provide deep business and technical expertise across all of our focus areas in the cloud. They are thought leaders and can respectfully guide and challenge clients, to ensure they receive the highest level of value from their technology investments. The role of Principal Software Architect (AI-driven Development) involves acting as a technical authority, selecting appropriate technologies, and driving the adoption of Spec-Driven Development and AI-assisted workflows. A core component of this role involves working directly with customers to build new features and modernize their entire technology estate, with the explicit goal of increasing business growth. While this role is largely focused on technical and consulting-based delivery directly with customers, the Principal Architect may also be required to act as a people manager for a team of ~5 direct reports of Architects and Engineers. This would include tasks such as having regular one-to-one meetings, having professional development and goal-setting conversations, and acting as part of a communication and feedback system with your direct team. Additionally, you would help to escalate administrative or project-related issues brought to your attention and provide recommendations towards performance reviews and promotions for your team. What you'll be doing: ● Confidently discuss every stage of the technology adoption cycle, all the way from the CEO to the developer, across multiple technical domains. ● Assigned to several accounts and are expected to work with their clients to become a trusted technical advisor. ● Thought leadership. ● Guide and challenge clients in a respectful manner to ensure they receive the highest level of value from their technology investments. ● Provide oversight to project teams to ensure technical outcomes align to solving customer business problems within project budgets and timelines ● Work with Engagement Managers to help manage project scope, and work with project teams and customers to help manage project expectations and delivery quality ● Participate in the sales process, typically in a pre-sales or equivalent capacity ● Work alongside our Account Executives and Presales Architects to scope and provide support on creating statements of works for our clients, as well as being heavily involved in account management. ● Report directly to OpsGuru Leadership. Your skills & experience: Technical and Consulting 10+ Years of Experience: 10+ years of experience delivering professional services or providing product management for one or more workloads on major cloud providers (Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud or Microsoft Azure). Full Stack Mastery: Deep expertise in both frontend and backend development. Frontend: Advanced proficiency with modern JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks (e.g., React, Next.js, Vue, Svelte), state management, and modern CSS workflows (Tailwind, CSS-in-JS). Backend: Robust experience designing APIs (REST, GraphQL, gRPC) and server-side architecture using languages such as Node.js, Go, or Python. Polyglot Proficiency: Proficiency in at least three distinct programming languages (e.g. TypeScript, Python, Go, .NET, Java). Generative AI & SDD Experience: Experience utilizing Spec-Driven Development tools and workflows where specifications (natural language or structured docs) drive AI code generation. Ability to write "prompts as specs" and manage the lifecycle of AI-generated artifacts. Business-Aligned Engineering: Demonstrated ability to align technical refactoring and feature development with customer business goals and growth metrics. Rapid Skill Acquisition: Ability to quickly acquire proficiency in unknown codebases or new languages. System Design: Knowledge of microservices, event-driven architecture, cloud-native patterns (Kubernetes, Docker), and database internals (SQL & NoSQL). People Management: ● Ability to adapt your communication style to individual team members ● Be an ambassador for the company by being able to explain our business mission, and values to customers ● Able to provide candid and constructive feedback to team members ● Have a bias to take ownership of challenges facing your team and see them through to conclusion ● An instinct to ask why to get a deeper understanding of problems ● Ability to establish trust with your team and invest in building professional relationships ● Able to have gap analysis conversations and help team members define effective goals ● Ability to inspire and motivate others without needing to micromanage ● Strong emotional intelligence and listening skills ● Experience leading technical teams Preferred Qualifications Experience transforming brownfield applications into modern architectures. Experience migrating and modernizing applications from on-premise to the Cloud.
