WHY THIS ROLE IS IMPORTANT TO US
Are you an expert engineer ready to build an internal AI agent that safely and reliably supports the software development lifecycle (SDLC) across a global fintech? At SimCorp, we develop products that power investment management and financial institutions worldwide — and we are investing heavily in AI to make our own engineering organization faster and better.
You will join the team developing our internal AI agent for the software development lifecycle: a production-grade product that helps engineers investigate code, analyze CI failures, review pull requests, work with backlog items, and automate recurring tasks through secure tools and agents. It is a real distributed product — agent runtime, enterprise integrations, sandboxed execution, and Azure operations — built and run end to end by this team. The agent runs as a single always-on hosted service that engineers across the organization use concurrently.
This is a practical leadership role: you will combine deep technical expertise in .NET distributed systems and AI-agent engineering with mentoring, architectural ownership, and collaboration across international teams.
WHAT YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR
As a Software Engineer on this team, you will:
Engineering and architecture
- Deeply participate in technical design, development, and operation of the product.
- Evolve the AI-agent runtime: how agents plan, use tools, manage context, and reliably recover state.
- Design secure, resilient integrations with engineering systems (source control, CI/CD, work-item tracking, collaboration and documentation platforms) through typed connectors, and MCP tools.
- Improve the agent's secure execution environments: hosted Linux sandboxes and remote sessions that let the agent assist directly on a user's machine, with confirmation and audit models
- Maintain and extend the Blazor Web Assembly frontend that engineers use to work with the agent every day.
Operations and quality
- Own production reliability on Azure: telemetry, diagnostics, performance and cost monitoring, deployment pipelines, and operational documentation.
- Write high-quality automated tests at unit, functional, integration, and acceptance levels, and design for testability.
Leadership and collaboration
- Mentor and coach engineers, and review code and architectural changes with an emphasis on correctness, security, and long-term product evolution
- Represent the team in technical forums and contribute to cross-team knowledge exchange on AI engineering practices.
Most importantly, you can see yourself contributing and thriving in the position described above. We expect you to be strong in several of the following and interested in learning the rest:
- Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
- 8+ years of software engineering experience with advanced C#/.NET backend skills
- Deep distributed-systems judgment: asynchronous processing, concurrency, cancellation, retries, idempotency, and state recovery
- Experience building AI/LLM applications beyond simple prompt calls: tool calling, agent orchestration, structured outputs, context management, and model-provider abstraction (e.g., Azure OpenAI).
- At least 1 year of practical, daily experience working with AI coding agents such as Claude Code or Codex
- Experience with open-source agents (e.g., OpenCode, Hermes, OpenClaw, or similar) and curiosity about how they work under the hood.
- Motivation to work in the AI space and the flexibility to try new technologies: you stay on top of market trends and bring the ecosystem's best practices — better memory, context management, and agent autonomy — into the product
- Solid experience with ASP.NET Core, relational persistence (PostgreSQL/EF Core preferred), and designing external-facing APIs with authentication, authorization, rate limiting, and resilience policies.
- Cloud engineering experience on Azure.
- Solid working knowledge of Linux: shell, processes, networking, and filesystems, and comfort debugging inside containerized environments.
- Practical experience with Docker and container isolation is highly recommended; familiarity with sandboxing technologies such as Sysbox, gVisor, or microVM-based isolation (e.g., Firecracker) is a strong advantage
- Ability to reason about security boundaries, secrets, RBAC, auditability, and safe execution of side-effecting operations.
- Frontend experience with Blazor or a modern SPA framework
- Experience with Windows automation which powers the agent's ability to assist on user machines
- Ability to lead or mentor engineers and make technical decisions
- Effective English communication skills, both written and spoken
