LAB3 is one of the largest Azure engineering practices in the Australasia region with a focus on Cloud & DevOps, Data, IoT & AI, Modern Workplace, Modern Apps & Integration, Security, and Network services.

We are on the hunt for a Principal Technologist to be a part of our pre-sales/ client engagement team, working closely with our clients to architect solutions that best fulfil their requirements.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Lead the consultation with our clients to understand strategic business needs and design cloud infrastructure solutions to effectively meet those needs.
  • Own the technical relationship with strategic customers, identifying and engaging with business and technical stakeholders at all levels to understand their strategy, motivators, business drivers, challenges and requirements.
  • Develop, communicate, and present solution options to senior management and enterprise stakeholders, including C-Suite & Directors.
  • Lead the formulation of the customer technical strategies and roadmaps, demonstrating client value over time through the assembly and integration of LAB3 products and services.
  • Ensure customer technical strategy and roadmap remains current, well socialised and communicated. Work with LAB3 partners to drive strategic and technical alignment.
  • Provide technical leadership to the LAB3 sales and solutions teams, ensuring our solutions are well architected, of high quality and effective in meeting business needs.
  • Actively participate in the pre-sales process, leading technical discussions, product demonstrations and proof of concepts; involve Lab3 SMEs where required.
  • Participate in and lead technical governance forums both internally and with LAB3’s customers.
  • Act as a technical escalation point during major and critical incidents, helping to drive service restoration, identify root cause, and identify preventive measures.

The right candidate:

  • Will be based in Canberra and have AGSVA NV1 clearance.
  • Have senior level consulting & enterprise architecture experience, including that in an Azure infrastructure environment.
  • Proven track record of understanding large, complex environments and navigating senior stake holders, both technical and non-technical.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex business requirements into scalable and robust technical solutions.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with stakeholders at all levels, from technical teams to C-suite executives.
  • Display a width and depth of technical skills to enable effectiveness in both high- and low-level architecting and solutioning

Broad knowledge of:

  • Enterprise IT and common Architectural Patterns
  • On-Prem and private cloud architectures and familiarity with migration and modernisation approaches.
  • Microsoft Well Architected Framework
  • AI, M365 and associated services
  • Common Application Architectures, particularly those that are cloud native.
  • Azure Data and Cognitive Services
  • Containerisation and Orchestration tooling and Microservices Architecture.
  • Cloud Security Concepts, Posture Management (CSPM) and Azure Security Services and Baselines

Deep knowledge of:

Microsoft Azure and Associated Services

  • Microsoft Azure and Associated Services
  • Microsoft’s CAF and Key Design Areas
  • DevOps principles, concepts and tooling

Desirable:

  • Hands on experience configuring GitHub \ Azure DevOps repositories, policies and pipelines
  • Experience with IaC tooling, hands-on experience with Terraform or similar.
  • Familiarity and knowledge of Service Management (ITIL) processes
  • Certifications related to Microsoft & Azure, DevOps, IaC and architecture
