Principal Toxicologist & Regulatory Scientific Lead

As we grow, we're looking for a Principal Toxicologist & Regulatory Scientific Lead to become a central scientific reference for our team — and one of its most visible voices.

You'll be the person who spots important regulatory changes early, tells our clients what they mean for their products, and designs how we handle them: Impact Assessments and procedures that turn a new rule into calm, efficient product management. You will lead the resolution of our most complex scientific and regulatory questions, ensuring that key decisions are robust, documented and defensible. You will also be a public voice for Taobé through webinars, articles, newsletters and social content

This is a senior expert role, not a management one — in our flat structure you lead through science and example. You'll sit at the heart of the team, alongside colleagues who help each other do excellent work.

Responsibilities

• Manage full cosmetic product registration processes end-to-end across the EU, UK and US, including standard client dossiers.
• Monitor EU, UK and US regulatory developments and cosmetovigilance signals, and identify early every change that matters for our clients, their products and our internal processes
• Translate each regulatory change into action — building templates, Impact Assessments and updated procedures before it becomes a problem.
• Lead the resolution of complex toxicological, safety and regulatory questions, ensuring that key decisions are robust, documented and defensible.
• Assess ingredients, raw materials and cosmetic formulas, and prepare, review and sign CPSR Part B.
• Lead ingredient compliance dossiers and complete product files.
• Provide recommendations on claims substantiation and potential reformulations.
• Engage with competent authorities when regulatory interpretation is unclear or when products under Taobé’s responsibility require scientific or regulatory discussion.
• Design and deliver scientific webinars, and represent Taobé at selected industry events and trade shows.
• Shape Taobé's editorial voice on regulatory hot topics — articles, newsletter and social channels — sharing regulatory news with a creative twist.
• Improve internal quality procedures, templates and tools, and share best practice across the team.

Qualifications

• A university qualification meeting the requirements of Article 10(2) of Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009, allowing you to act as a cosmetic Safety Assessor and sign CPSR Part B.
• At least eight years of relevant experience in cosmetic toxicology, safety assessment or regulatory affairs, including substantial experience signing CPSRs and handling complex ingredient and product-safety questions.
• Deep command of EU and UK cosmetic safety and regulation, combined with strong, practical expertise in the US cosmetic regulatory framework, including MoCRA. US expertise is essential for this position.
• Proven experience managing complete cosmetic product registration processes end-to-end across the EU, UK and US.
• Strong ingredient and raw-material assessment skills.
• Experience improving quality procedures, templates and tools; comfortable making and standing behind important toxicological and regulatory decisions.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, in English, with the confidence to present webinars and create engaging content.
