What we need you to bring.

Horizon is seeking an open, enthusiastic, experienced Principle Engineer – Analysis (Stress) to support the development of our next-generation aircraft from concept through flight test, certification and entry into service.

The Principle Stress Analysis Engineer will be responsible for the structural analysis, verification, and certification of primary and secondary aircraft structures. This role will provide technical leadership in the assessment of airframe strength, stiffness, durability, damage tolerance, and structural integrity while working closely with Design Engineering, Loads & Dynamics, Flight Sciences, Materials & Processes, Manufacturing, Test, and Certification teams.

The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring that the aircraft structure meets all performance, safety, weight, and airworthiness requirements while supporting the overall structural development strategy of the program.

Your Day-to-Day

  • Perform stress, strength, stiffness, stability, and structural integrity assessments for aircraft structures.
  • Analyse metallic, composite and hybrid structural components using analytical and finite element methods.
  • Support weight reduction and structural optimization initiatives.
  • Assess structural margins of safety and develop corrective actions when required.
  • Conduct fatigue and damage tolerance analyses for metallic and composite structures.
  • Support development of certification plans.
  • Develop, validate, and maintain finite element models at component, subsystem, and aircraft levels.
  • Review engineering drawings, CAD models, and design changes.
  • Support aircraft and component test campaigns.
  • Participate in regulatory reviews and technical discussions, providing engineering justification for compliance findings and design approvals.
  • Provide technical mentorship to junior engineers.
  • Establish analysis methodologies, standards and best practices.
  • Present engineering recommendations and structural status to leadership and stakeholders.
  • Stay up to date with, and implement, the latest developments in your field
  • Drive the continuous improvement of our processes to increase safety and efficiency

The ideal candidates are likely to have the following experience:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • 8+ years of experience in aircraft structural analysis, stress engineering, or airframe development.
  • Strong knowledge of metallic and composite structures and associated certification standards.
  • Experience supporting aircraft development and certification programs.
  • Proficiency with finite element analysis methods and structural substantiation techniques.
  • Experience supporting Part 23, Part 25, military, rotorcraft, eVTOL, or UAV development programs.
  • Experience developing and correlating full-aircraft finite element models.
  • Familiarity with aircraft loads development and aeroelastic analysis.

Location.

This role will be based in the Montreal area, with occasional travel to our main hangar in Lindsay, Ontario required. We offer relocation allowances in appropriate cases.
