Responsibilities
- Represent trustees, personal representatives, beneficiaries, and other fiduciaries in trust and probate matters
- Analyze wills, revocable trusts, irrevocable trusts, powers of attorney, beneficiary designations, and other estate planning documents
- Advise clients regarding fiduciary duties, notices, accounting, creditor claims, tax issues, distributions, and potential conflicts
- Prepare and review probate pleadings, petitions, motions, declarations, accountings, inventories, and related court filings
- Handle California probate proceedings, including:
- Preparing and filing required notices;
- Managing creditor claims;
- Coordinating estate appraisals and asset collection;
- Addressing real property and business interests;
- Preparing petitions for instructions and other contested or uncontested relief; and
- Completing final distributions and closing the estate
- Administer revocable and irrevocable trusts, including funding, asset transfers, distributions, and trust termination
- Identify and address estate, gift, generation-skipping transfer, and income tax considerations in coordination with tax professionals
- Draft settlement agreements, releases, disclaimers, assignments, deeds, and other administration documents
- Attend court hearings, settlement conferences, mediations, and depositions as appropriate
- Maintain accurate case files, deadlines, budgets, and billing records

Requirements
- J.D. from an accredited law school and licensed with the California State Bar
- 3+ years of experience handling California trust administration and probate matters.
- Effective, clear, concise, and accurate communication, both oral and written, at an appropriate level to the situation and the client
- Experience preparing probate petitions, trust administration documents, accounting, and related pleadings
- Great ability to focus under pressure and the willingness to do what needs to be done
- Demonstrate a high degree of discretion, confidentiality, and integrity in the handling of personal client information, including following the Rules of Professional Conduct
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, timekeeping, legal research platforms, document-management systems, and billing software
