Why Join ORC?

The Right Work. The Right People. The Right Culture.

Right of Way is where infrastructure meets innovation—shaping roads, utilities, and communities for the future. At ORC, we offer more than a job—we offer purpose, stability, and growth. You’ll join a team that values collaboration, workplace flexibility, and long-term opportunity.

About the Role

As our Process Improvement Analyst, you'll be the right hand to our Director of PMO. You'll take process and initiative work from a rough idea to a clear, buildable design, and you'll lead the stakeholder conversations that make it happen. You'll work across Operations, IT, PMO, Finance, and leadership. Part of the job is translating what a team is trying to accomplish into what our systems can actually do. The other part is helping that team see the possibilities and the limits, so they make good decisions.

This role is part architect, part analyst, and part trusted advisor. It's ideal for someone who thinks like an engineer, likes untangling messy problems, and gets real satisfaction from seeing a better process take hold.

What You'll Do

Design processes that work in the real world
  • Lead current-state and future-state process mapping for enterprise initiatives, from cross-functional workflows to technology-enabled change.
  • Think through edge cases, exceptions, and handoffs before they become problems.
  • Translate business needs into clearly defined processes, workflows, requirements, and decision points.
  • Identify bottlenecks, friction, and inefficiencies, and recommend practical, scalable improvements.
Bridge business and technology
  • Assess what a platform or tool can actually do, then help stakeholders understand what's possible, what's limited, and what the trade-offs are.
  • Think across systems. Understand how data and processes move between platforms, and where integration, data structure, or data quality will make or break an initiative.
  • Help shape how data is structured and modeled so processes can be measured, automated, and scaled.
  • Partner with IT and software development leadership to align business process needs with technical solutions.
Own the work and drive results
  • Run stakeholder working sessions independently. You'll be trusted to steer conversations, drive alignment, and move decisions forward without the Director of PMO needing to be in the room.
  • Get initiatives ready for planning and execution by clarifying scope, dependencies, and readiness.
  • Keep initiative backlogs, planning sprints, and active workstreams organized and visible.
  • Prepare analysis, documentation, and recommendations for leadership discussions.
Refine after launch
  • Run post-implementation health checks to compare how a process was designed with how it's actually working.
  • Diagnose root causes such as design gaps, system constraints, and unclear handoffs. Focus on the system, not individual performance.
  • Write and maintain SOPs and process documentation as refinements are made.
  • Partner with our Governance function to separate design problems from adoption or compliance problems.
Experiment and push us forward
  • Use AI and automation tools in your own work every day, and help us find where they can make our processes smarter.
  • Bring new ideas, test them, and share what you learn as our PMO, Quality, and Process practices mature.

Who You Are

You're a self-starter in the truest sense. You don't wait to be told what to do. You see a gap, form a point of view, and get to work. You're comfortable with ambiguity because you know how to bring structure to it.

Stakeholders trust you because you listen well, explain complex ideas simply, and follow through. You think in systems. When someone describes a problem, you're already asking what's upstream, what's downstream, what data is involved, and what happens in the edge case nobody mentioned.

You're fluent and curious with technology, and especially with AI. You like experimenting, you're not intimidated by new tools, and you learn them quickly.

Minimum Requirements
  • 3–7 years of experience in process improvement, business analysis, operational excellence, PMO, or a similar role.
  • Advanced, hands-on skill in Lucidchart. You'll be building in it from day one.
  • A strong track record in process mapping, workflow design, and documentation.
  • Analytical and systems-thinking ability, including comfort reasoning through edge cases and dependencies.
  • Experience working with both business and technical stakeholders, with strong relationship-building and facilitation skills.
  • Active, practical use of AI tools in your work.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • A demonstrated history of taking initiative and delivering measurable results.
Preferred
  • Familiarity with data models, data structuring, or database concepts.
  • An engineering, systems, information science, or technical analysis background.
  • Experience with Jira or similar initiative and project management tools.
  • Exposure to Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methods.
  • Experience in a growing or scaling organization, or in professional services.
