Process Owner, Clinical Optimization - Clinical Informatics/Information Solutions

Job Description Summary

The Clinical Optimization Process Owner reports to the Chief Nurse Informatics Officer and collaborates with leaders across Information Solutions technology pillars to develop, manage, and improve complex, integrated processes that support clinical system optimization. This role leads optimization governance in partnership with operational executive leaders to support informed decision-making, provide clear status updates, report key performance indicators, improve clinician satisfaction, increase efficiency, enhance system effectiveness, and deliver measurable value to the Enterprise.

The Process Owner provides oversight and matrixed leadership for designated Optimization processes, ensuring their implementation, adoptions, performance, and value demonstration related to information solutions (IS) and the MUSC Enterprise. The Process Owner is Responsible for defining Critical Success Factors (CSF) and Key Performance Indicators (KPI) for each owned process. They are accountable for capturing and reporting process performance metrics to IS Senior Leaders; recognizing and delivering on opportunities for operational improvement through processes and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP); collaborating with the is (ITSM) platform owner to improve efficiency through tools; and educating team members throughout IS on the importance, practice, and behaviors associated with each process.

The Process Owner will participate in planning activities related to optimization, such as coordinating and collaboration between teams, execution of road maps, quality assurance and risk management activities to assure IS’s ability to continue delivering optimized systems to the MUSC Enterprise.

Additional Job Description

Requirements (Education, Work Experience, Licensure, Registry and/or Certifications):

A bachelor's degree in a clinically focused specialty (nursing, respiratory therapy, dietary, etc.), computer science, management information systems, or related field, or equivalent experience of 7 years or greater working with clinical health information systems is required. Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, client relations and relationship building, fact finding, analytical, presentation, and communication (written/verbal) skills required.

Previous experience with process improvement and agile methodology is highly desired.

Demonstrated project management experience in IT and healthcare preferred.

ITIL Foundations certification or higher must be obtained within six (6) months of hire.

Experience analyzing and demonstrated experience documenting processes preferred.

Ability to create, implement, and evaluate key performance indicators.
