This consulting role owns the financial relationship with a key contract manufacturer in the United States and the European Union. The Supplier Financial Oversight Manager establishes clear visibility into all costs, charges, and inventory held at the contract manufacturer, verifies that every charge is approved and accurate, protects consigned material, and documents recoverable costs arising from contract manufacturer errors. The position serves as the primary financial point of contact for the contract manufacturer and works closely with Supply Chain and Operations, Finance, Quality Assurance, and Engineering in a growing, fully remote startup environment.
Responsibilities- Manage all purchase orders issued to the contract manufacturer and all invoices received from them.
- Reconcile invoices against purchase orders, approved pricing, and delivered quantities prior to payment.
- Collaborate with Finance to identify all charges applied against credit holds and confirm that each charge has appropriate internal approval.
- Track the cost of equipment over time, including changes in unit and component costs.
- Monitor all fees and charges billed by the contract manufacturer, flagging any items that are unapproved, duplicated, or outside agreed terms.
- Support Finance in preparing weekly cash flow reports by providing accurate contract manufacturer payables and forecasted spend.
- Maintain an accurate view of equipment and consigned material held at the contract manufacturer, including compressor serial numbers.
- Verify that the contract manufacturer uses a first in, first out (FIFO) method when pulling consigned parts.
- Confirm that consigned material held at the contract manufacturer carries adequate insurance coverage and obtain current certificates of insurance.
- Maintain a detailed record of out-of-pocket expenses incurred due to contract manufacturer errors, including quality issues, expedited shipping, and customer costs and losses caused by missed or inaccurate schedule commitments.
- Prepare claims documentation to a standard suitable for formal disputes or litigation, including dates, source communications, and supporting records.
- Pursue recovery of documented costs from the contract manufacturer and track each claim through to resolution.
- Ensure the contract manufacturer follows traceability standards by recording serial numbers on all shipping and invoicing documentation.
- Report gaps in traceability to Operations and Quality Assurance and support corrective actions.
- Conduct periodic audits of contract manufacturer financial records as they pertain to the organizations business.
- Report audit findings, discrepancies, and recommended corrective actions to relevant stakeholders.
- Serve as the primary financial point of contact for the contract manufacturer in both the United States and the European Union.
- Partner closely with Supply Chain and Operations, Finance, Quality Assurance, and Engineering to align financial oversight with operational and quality objectives.
- Manage multiple open items and deadlines using sound project management practices to ensure timely resolution of financial and operational issues.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with suppliers to hold them accountable to agreed financial, inventory, and traceability standards.
- Demonstrated audit experience, preferably with suppliers or contract manufacturers.
- Strong working knowledge of general accounting procedures, including purchase order and invoice reconciliation.
- Hands-on experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and vendor management.
- Proficiency in managing purchase orders and related financial documentation.
- Project management skills with the ability to manage multiple open items and deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to hold a supplier accountable in a professional manner.
- Experience with consigned inventory, inventory valuation, and FIFO controls.
- Experience using NetSuite for financial and operational processes.
- Finance and accounting background with practical experience in cost tracking and financial oversight.
- Ability to prepare structured, evidence-based documentation suitable for commercial disputes or claims.
- Experience preparing documentation for commercial disputes or claims is preferred.
- Experience with manufacturing operations in both the United States and Europe is preferred.
- Familiarity with data center or related technical environments is beneficial.
- Consulting experience in a high-growth or startup setting is advantageous.
- Comfort working independently in a fully remote, fast-paced environment with evolving processes.
- Interest in a consulting engagement with potential for longer-term or conversion opportunities.
This role operates in a fully remote environment, offering flexibility to work from any suitable location while collaborating with global stakeholders. You will engage with contract manufacturing operations in both the United States and the European Union, using tools such as NetSuite and other finance and collaboration platforms. The organization is in a growing startup mode, which means processes are evolving, decisions move quickly, and you will have significant ownership over your area of responsibility. Hours are aligned to business needs and cross-functional collaboration, with an emphasis on clear communication and proactive coordination across Finance, Supply Chain and Operations, Quality Assurance, and Engineering. Dress code is informal and self-managed, appropriate for a remote, professional setting.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Southington, CT.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $35.00 - $40.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
