Job Brief

Remotee is seeking an experienced Procurement Category Specialist to support an established Western Australian Gold mining company and join their Business Services Support team in Kalgoorlie, Western Australia. Reporting to the Procurement and Inventory Lead, this role provides advanced analysis and strategic procurement support across the business.

As a Category Specialist, you will lead to sourcing events, support vendor management, and oversee contract changes and renewals. You'll work closely with internal stakeholders to deliver commercial value while ensuring procurement governance is upheld across the organisation. This role suits an experienced procurement professional with a mining or heavy industry background, strong commercial acumen and confidence negotiating complex contracts.

Mandatory Requirements

• 4-5 years' experience in a procurement role within mining or heavy industry.
• Extensive experience negotiating contracts, renewals, amendments, and extensions.
• Proven experience managing end-to-end tender processes.
• Proven experience in strategic sourcing with strong commercial acumen.
• Understanding international and domestic supply chain and logistics concepts.
• Advanced data analysis and reporting skills to support decision-making.
• Advanced Excel skills, including supplier pricing analysis and Pivot tables.
• Sound understanding of the Windows operating system and computer network infrastructure.
• Able to communicate clearly and build strong relationships with a variety of stakeholders, with the ability to provide thought and decision leadership across projects.
• Familiarity with IT and/or Engineering project methodologies.
  
  

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement strategic sourcing, category and supplier management plans.
• Manage end-to-end tender processes where spending requires a formal tender process.
• Lead contract negotiations for new contracts, renewals, amendments, and extensions.
• Conduct advanced data analysis for new contracts, renewals, amendments, and extensions.
• Undertake category planning, aligning supplier spending to strategic objectives and KPIs.
• Develop and deliver category reporting and procurement insights.
• Support project and equipment procurement, including supplier prequalification and order placement.
• Work with legal terms to develop and negotiate contracts and governance documentation.
