Job Summary

Austin Bazaar is seeking an experienced and data-driven Procurement Manager to lead multi-channel procurement and inventory strategy across Amazon FBA, Walmart, and other emerging marketplace channels.

Austin Bazaar is one of the largest online retailers of musical instruments, pro audio equipment, and accessories in the United States. Headquartered in Austin, Texas, we sell across Amazon, Walmart, eBay, Shopify, and our growing B2B business. Our portfolio includes leading brands such as Fender, Roland, Casio, Yamaha, Boss, and Pioneer.

This position is broader than a traditional Procurement Specialist role. The Procurement Manager will make vendor and inventory decisions, manage procurement projects, guide procurement specialists, and transform manual processes into scalable and automated workflows.

The ideal candidate will combine strong procurement and inventory-management experience with advanced e-commerce analysis, automation skills, marketplace knowledge, and a practical understanding of how advertising performance affects purchasing and demand decisions.

Multi-Channel Procurement and Inventory Management

• Own end-to-end procurement activities, including sourcing, vendor negotiations, purchase planning, replenishment, and inventory allocation.
• Manage procurement and inventory strategy across Amazon FBA, Walmart, and other marketplace channels.
• Analyze sales velocity, inventory health, stock requirements, and demand trends by channel to support purchasing decisions.
• Monitor stock levels and ensure the right inventory is available on the appropriate channels at the right time.
• Manage vendor relationships and negotiate pricing, payment terms, lead times, and other commercial conditions.
• Monitor channel-specific factors affecting procurement, including Amazon Buy Box ownership, MAP compliance, Walmart item setup, and fulfillment health.
• Identify and address inventory or channel risks before they affect product availability or sales.
• Maintain awareness of musical instruments, equipment, brands, and relevant market trends.
  

Process Automation and Systems

• Lead the transition of manual procurement processes into scalable and automated workflows.
• Map existing processes and identify opportunities to improve speed, accuracy, and efficiency.
• Design, build, and maintain automations using tools such as Microsoft Excel, VBA, Google Apps Script, Zapier, Power Automate, or API-based integrations.
• Use AI tools such as ChatGPT and Claude to support data analysis, reporting, workflow design, and process improvement.
• Build and maintain Excel-based models, trackers, dashboards, and reports for forecasting, procurement planning, and leadership review.
• Ensure procurement processes and automated workflows are properly documented and maintained.

Advertising and Channel Growth Support

• Maintain a working understanding of advertising performance across Amazon, Walmart, and other marketplace channels.
• Understand how advertising expenditure, campaign performance, product placement, and promotions influence inventory demand.
• Partner with Marketing and Brand Managers to align purchasing and replenishment plans with promotional and advertising calendars.
• Ensure procurement decisions support channel growth while minimizing excess inventory and stockout risks.

Leadership and Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Manage procurement projects from planning through completion, including timelines, ownership, deliverables, and stakeholder coordination.
• Provide day-to-day guidance and mentorship to Procurement Specialists.
• Improve the procurement team’s analytical, reporting, and process-management capabilities.
• Partner with Finance, Brand Management, Marketing, Content and Listings, Supply Chain, and Customer Engagement teams.
• Present procurement findings, inventory risks, and recommendations clearly to company leadership.
• Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including during client and vendor calls.
• Promote accountability, accuracy, timely execution, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in any discipline.
• Three to five years of relevant experience in procurement, inventory management, marketplace operations, or data-driven e-commerce operations.
• Demonstrated progression into a role involving manager-level responsibilities, ownership, or decision-making.
• Experience managing procurement, inventory, or catalogue operations across multiple marketplace channels, such as Amazon and Walmart.
• Proven experience automating manual business processes, including the ability to explain what was automated, how it was implemented, and its business impact.
• Working knowledge of advertising management on Amazon, Walmart, or comparable marketplace advertising platforms.
• Experience working with U.S.-based businesses, clients, or teams preferred.
• Knowledge of the musical instruments and equipment industry, including major products, brands, and market trends, strongly preferred.
• Experience working remotely with global or distributed teams preferred.
• Willingness and ability to work hours that overlap with U.S. business hours.

Skills and Technical Expertise

• Expert-level Microsoft Excel skills, including advanced formulas, pivot tables, data analysis, and financial or inventory modelling.
• Advanced, hands-on experience using ChatGPT and Claude for business analysis, reporting, and workflow automation.
• Demonstrated ability to design and implement automated workflows from process mapping through deployment.
• Strong project-management skills, with the ability to manage several workstreams simultaneously.
• Strong e-commerce business-analysis skills and the ability to translate complex datasets into clear purchasing and inventory decisions.
• Experience with SkuVault and Tableau is an advantage.
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
