ABOUT Storage.ae
As a Product Design Engineer, you will work closely with our leadership, product, and technology teams to design, develop, and manufacture innovative physical products and customized metal structures.
This role combines mechanical product design, sheet metal fabrication, supplier management, and manufacturing execution, taking products from initial concept through prototyping and production.
THE ROLE
This is not a traditional design-only engineering role. You will be responsible for both designing products and ensuring they can be successfully manufactured.
You will take ownership of the full development process, including product design, technical drawings, material selection, supplier sourcing, prototyping, and quality control.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Product Design & Engineering:
Design functional, durable, and visually appealing physical products and metal structures.
Define product dimensions, materials, structural components, and finishes.
Develop detailed 3D CAD models, manufacturing drawings, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
Optimize designs for durability, manufacturing efficiency, and cost.
Manufacturing & Supplier Management:
Identify and evaluate manufacturers specializing in sheet metal fabrication.
Request quotations, compare costs, and assess supplier capabilities.
Coordinate manufacturing requirements, production timelines, and quality standards.
Ensure designs are suitable for laser cutting, bending, welding, finishing, and assembly.
Prototyping & Quality Control:
Manage prototype development from initial design through production.
Inspect prototypes, identify defects, and implement improvements.
Work directly with manufacturers to resolve technical and production issues.
Ensure final products meet quality, functionality, and budget requirements.
Technology Integration & Project Coordination:
Collaborate with technology teams to accommodate electronic components and integrated hardware.
Ensure compatibility between mechanical designs and technical requirements.
Manage project timelines, supplier coordination, and manufacturing progress.
Provide regular updates and recommendations to leadership.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
3+ years of experience in mechanical product design, sheet metal fabrication, or product engineering.
Strong experience designing metal structures, mechanical enclosures, or fabricated products.
Proficiency in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor, or equivalent CAD software.
Strong understanding of sheet metal fabrication, materials, and manufacturing processes.
Experience preparing manufacturing drawings, technical specifications, and BOMs.
Proven experience in supplier sourcing, manufacturer coordination, and prototype development.
Ability to independently manage projects from concept → design → prototyping → manufacturing.
Strong problem-solving, communication, and project management skills.
NICE TO HAVE
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
Experience designing commercial equipment, customized metal products, or electronic enclosures.
Familiarity with Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and hardware integration.
Experience managing international suppliers and manufacturing partners.
WHAT YOU'LL GET
A hands-on role with real ownership and direct impact on product development.
The opportunity to take innovative products from concept to manufacturing.
Direct collaboration with leadership and cross-functional teams.
Performance-based career growth and professional development.
A fast-paced environment where ideas move quickly from design to execution.
