About the Role Valence is looking for a Product Designer to join our small, high-velocity product-design-engineering team. You'll work across the full product — from AI coaching flows to team collaboration features — shipping polished, thoughtful experiences on a weekly cadence. This isn't a role where design is handed requirements and asked to execute. You'll be embedded with product and engineering, contributing to how we think about problems, not just how we solve them visually. You're a few years into your career, have shipped real product, and are hungry to grow in an environment that will stretch you. What You'll Do Design end-to-end features across Valence's core product — coaching flows, onboarding, dashboards, and team tooling — from concept through shipped Contribute to and maintain our design system, ensuring consistency and craft as the product scales Work closely with product and engineering in weekly cycles, translating requirements into clear interaction flows and high-fidelity designs Participate actively in design critiques, working sessions, and paired design work with senior teammates Write product copy and micro-interactions that make the experience feel polished and human Explore how AI can be integrated into user experiences in ways that feel intuitive, not gimmicky What You Bring 3–5 years of product design experience with a portfolio that demonstrates strong craft and end-to-end thinking Experience shipping product on a small team — you're comfortable owning a feature without heavy process or specialized support Solid grounding in interaction design, visual design, and information architecture Familiarity working with and contributing to a design system Comfortable working in fast cycles — you can make decisions with incomplete information and iterate based on what you learn Proficiency in Figma Nice to have: Experience designing conversational interfaces, chat products, or AI-powered experiences Exposure to enterprise SaaS or B2B products Interest in the intersection of AI, coaching, and human behavior What Success Looks Like in 90 Days You've shipped at least one end-to-end feature and have a clear sense of where your work fits in the broader product You're an active contributor in design reviews and working sessions, not just a listener You have a working relationship with your engineering and product partners and are embedded in the weekly rhythm of the team Why Valence Ownership & Rapid Growth Outsized missions from day one, with direct responsibility for company-defining projects Work alongside the executive team with transparency into strategy and decision-making Influence on direction through real-time customer feedback and market insights AI-First Operator Work directly with cutting-edge AI models and next-generation platforms Build expertise in enterprise AI implementation across Fortune 500 companies and multiple industries Establish yourself as a recognized leader among peers in shaping how AI transforms work at a global scale Compensation Competitive salary including base + bonuses Comprehensive health coverage (medical, dental, vision) from day one Generous PTO, company-wide R&R shutdowns, and paid parental leave Retirement plan support for US and global employees Equity Meaningful ownership in a venture-backed company at a growth inflection point Financial upside that comes from scaling fast Top-up grants as we scale and you deliver exceptional performance — your compensation grows alongside your impact Top-Performing Culture A culture built for top talent: intensity to win, growth without limits, and a team that solves hard problems and celebrates big wins together Learn more about us and meet our team here Location and Work Environment This can be a remote or hybrid role. NYC based candidates will be 3 days a week in office in Union Square. Candidates must be comfortable balancing colleagues in global timezones, as needed.
