💙 About Bounce
At Bounce we’re on a mission to make people’s journeys lighter, because we believe nobody should have to plan their day around their stuff.
We started with the largest luggage storage network on the planet: 35,000+ local businesses across 100+ countries, where travelers drop their bags and get on with their day. Now we’re going further, with luggage delivery and our own 24/7 lockers. Our goal is for “bounce it” to be the first thing people say when they arrive in a new city.
We’re a small, nimble team across Lisbon, San Francisco, and Tokyo. We move fast, test ideas early, and change course when the data tells us to. If you want to make travel lighter for everyone, come build it with us.
We were named the fastest-growing travel company in the US on the 2024 Inc 5000, and we’re backed by leading Silicon Valley investors, including a16z, General Catalyst, and 359 Capital.
About the role
You'll join the Supply pod, part of the Core cluster that keeps the Bounce marketplace running. Supply owns the store side of the business: who is in the network, whether they're live and active, how well they perform, and whether they stay. You'll own the systems behind that lifecycle, from the models that tell BD where we need stores, to onboarding and activation flows, to the tooling that keeps 35,000+ partners healthy without a proportional increase in people.
Most of this work lives in the backend. There is user-facing product in the partner app and in the onboarding journey, but the bulk of what you'll ship is data, logic, integrations and internal tools. If you like building the engine more than the dashboard on top of it, this is the role.
The mission
Bounce only works if there's a good store exactly where a traveler needs one, and that store opens, accepts the bag, and comes back tomorrow. The Supply pod's job is to make that true at scale: close supply gaps in priority cities and POIs, get new stores from "signed" to "consistently booked" fast, and reduce churn across the base.
That means turning supply questions into systems: identify supply gaps, onboarding that doesn't need a human for the happy path, activation and retention loops that run on their own, and partner tooling that scales our Partner Success team. You'll work closely with Supply, Partner Success and BizOps, and you'll be expected to understand the operational reality behind every feature you build.
How product gets built at Bounce
We build for our customers and partners first. Technology is how we get there, not the goal.
We work in 1-week cycles, and most projects fit into one or two of them. Each project has one owner, but the whole team pitches in. You'll always need input along the way, and we expect you to ask for it.
This role is for you if you enjoy every part of building software, not just writing code. As a small team, we rely on people who can take a feature from idea to production. You won't be handed a queue of tickets. You'll help shape what we build and why.
Our stack is Elixir, React Native/Expo, React, Next.js, and TypeScript, and AI is part of how we build every day.
Where you come in
Own backend-heavy projects across the supply lifecycle: supply-gap modeling, store acquisition and onboarding, activation, retention and quality.
Build the internal tools BD, Supply and Partner Success use every day, and remove manual work from their workflows through automation.
Design the data models and pipelines that tell us where supply is missing and which stores are at risk.
Integrate with third parties (telephony, messaging, payouts, partner systems) reliably and observably.
Ship the partner-facing pieces when they matter: onboarding flows, the partner app, partner communications.
Keep the supply side of the business running: triage incoming issues, act on production incidents and alerts, fix bugs fast, and make the systems more reliable over time.
Bring in new tools and approaches, including AI, when they help us move faster.
Your Profile
You've shipped and operated production backend systems and you like owning them end to end.
You're strong in a backend language. Elixir is ideal; Ruby, Go, Python or TypeScript on the server with a willingness to pick up Elixir is fine.
You're comfortable with relational data modeling, background jobs and queues, and with payment and booking correctness (idempotency, transactions, failure paths).
You've worked with analytics data (SQL, warehouse pipelines) and can reason about a metric from source to dashboard.
You can hold your own on the frontend in React or React Native: decomposed components, sane state management, typed end to end, tested. This isn't a backend-only role.
You write code that's easy to test and maintain, and you understand CI/CD and observability.
You enjoy working with non-technical teams and turning operational problems into product.
You'll be asked to walk through and defend your own code live. That's the bar.

Our core values
Velocity is priority #1. The faster we ship, the faster we learn. One day sooner compounds.
Be experiment-driven. Small hypotheses, small scopes, fast learning.
Freedom with responsibility. You have the freedom to act, and we trust you to do what's best for Bounce.
Own the outcome. Commit to the outcome, not the task.
Think at scale. A small improvement shipped globally can beat a big one in a single city.
Be scrappy. There are no experts, it's just us. If something needs doing, we figure it out.
Strive for feedback. Care personally, challenge directly, and make feedback a habit.
Relationships matter. We genuinely care about the people we work with. We build community, not just collaborate.
