Essential Functions:

  • Leading the product discovery process
    • Understanding user problems, needs, and the competitive landscape - the holistic user perspective
    • Brainstorming with stakeholders to solve user problems
    • Validating that proposed solutions will solve user problems
    • Defining product specs, including user stories and requirements, that engineering and design stakeholders can easily understand
    • Prioritizing solutions, factoring in potential upside/benefits, resources and timeline constraints, and strategic considerations
  • Creating the product strategy and roadmap for your product, while still being aware of the larger organizational landscape and when cross-product/team collaboration makes sense
    • Actively listening to internal and external stakeholders to maintain awareness of features that are not currently on the roadmap, but perhaps should be
    • Evangelizing your product vision with the organization
    • Communicating with stakeholders and leadership about your product, including but not limited to: Design, Engineering/QA, Event Operations, Sales Engineering, Finance, Sales, and Leadership
  • Translating requests from clients and internal stakeholders into product specifications and requirements, in collaboration with the Design and Engineering teams
    • Collaborating with stakeholders to ensure the needs are fully understood
    • Creating thorough and clear requirements so the product engineering team understands what they’re building
    • Leveraging Jira to appropriately break down and create work tickets for the team
  • Facilitating work through the development process
    • Converting the product spec / requirements into Jira tickets (the system we use)
    • Writing documentation on the feature for internal stakeholders
    • Ensuring that the delivered feature matches the product spec / requirements
  • Conducting user research, as needed
    • Collaborating with our Design and other internal teams to find appropriate research participants, both internal and external
    • Capturing the results of research and translating it into clear product requirements
  • Supporting the release process
    • Ensuring roadmap features are delivered in a timely manner
    • Ensuring the product release process is followed
    • Communicating regularly with stakeholders about upcoming releases to ensure they are prepared and ready to support our clients and customers
  • Acting as a resource / subject matter expert on your product for others in the organization
  • Maintaining expertise in the industry as a whole, along with a clear sense of how your product fits into the competitive landscape



Competencies:

  • Minimum of 5 years experience as a Product Manager
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Strong collaboration skills with internal stakeholders and senior leadership
  • Strong presentation skills for a variety of audiences, including senior leadership
  • Ability to build rapport and trust with others, both internally and externally
  • Ability to make objective, data-driven decisions
  • Nice to have, but not required
    • Experience in the live event industry, conventions in particular
    • Experience with Jira
    • Experience with Pendo



Supervisory Responsibility

No direct reports but must be able to influence your peers as the leader of your product

OFFICE INFORMATION:

Leap Event Technology is a remote-friendly company. However, we do offer the option of working in the office for employees located in Montréal (CAN), Pittsburgh (U.S.), Dallas (U.S.), Sydney (AUS). All of our offices are stocked with snacks and drinks and we provide a free lunch every week. We offer a monthly travel stipend, and even host the occasional themed party and happy hour!

If you don’t live near an office but happen to be visiting nearby, you can work from the office for as long as you need.
