Key responsibilities
- Own the product strategy and roadmap for buyer-facing discovery and transaction surfaces, and keep it aligned to business priorities.
- Turn customer and business problems into clear written product definition: one-pagers, PRDs, design briefs and release plans.
- Partner daily with engineering and design to scope, sequence and ship, making the tradeoff calls when timelines or capacity are constrained. - Improve search relevance and the discovery journey so buyers reach the right equipment with less effort.
- Deliver and evolve the buying formats the marketplace offers, spanning auction bidding and fixed-price purchase.
- Define success measures before launch, ensure they are instrumented, and use the results to decide what comes next.
- Work with the upstream platform and listings teams whose services this experience depends on, and represent buyer needs in their roadmaps.
- Support international rollout, where the same experience ships across multiple countries, languages and regulatory contexts.
- Keep stakeholders and leadership current on progress, risks and outcomes without being chased for it.
- Responsible for an area of the buyer experience, end-to-end, including writing the story, driving cross-functional execution, making thoughtful product decisions along the way, and sharing insights and results throughout the company.
- Evaluates market and consumer user experience research and results based on discovered industry trends and competitor landscapes, through conversations with the customer, data analysis and metrics.
- Identifies the highest impact work, prioritizes, and delivers improvements in a measurable way.
- Partners with other product teams, engineering, design, and various other stakeholders as necessary to create a high-achieving team.
- Drives crucial product initiatives.
- Articulates complex problems with exceptional clarity and contributes to team strategy
- Takes ownership of the problem through to the solution within and across teams, peers, partners and leadership.
- Actively ensures their product team is aligned and engaged.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required qualifications
- 3+ years in product management, including consumer-facing web products where customers complete transactions.
- Demonstrated end-to-end ownership of a product area, from problem definition through launch and iteration.
- Strong written communication: you can make a complex tradeoff legible to engineers and executives in the same document.
- Comfort with technical systems: you can read an API contract, follow how data moves between services, and debate implementation tradeoffs credibly.
- Fluency with product analytics and a habit of defining and monitoring your own metrics.
Preferred qualifications
- Marketplace, auction or e-commerce experience, particularly where payment follows a commitment rather than an immediate cart checkout.
- Search and relevance experience: ranking, filtering, query understanding.
- Experience shipping across multiple countries and languages.
- Familiarity with real-time systems such as live bidding or streaming updates.
- Hands-on with AI development tools such as Claude Code, for investigating the codebase, tracing behaviour and checking data without waiting on engineering.
Competencies
- Delivery and quality: ships predictably, at a standard that holds up.
- Product judgment and prioritization: chooses well and says no clearly.
- Customer and problem insight: grounds decisions in evidence.
- Communication and documentation: writes so others can act without a meeting.
- Alignment and influence: builds agreement across teams and upward.
