Role Overview

ProAg has an exciting opportunity for a Product Owner to join our team. You will look for new ways to disrupt the status quo, go to market faster, and optimize customer experiences to deliver value to agents and policyholders related to administration of USDA Risk Management Agency (RMA) Multi-peril Crop Insurance (MPCI), USDA RMA Livestock Programs and ProAg Private Insurance Products. As Product Owner, you will be at the forefront of our mission to create a more seamless and cohesive experience for our users making buying, selling, and servicing crop insurance easy.


In this Exciting Opportunity, You Will:

  • Responsible for understanding and interpreting all Risk Management Agency (RMA) and National Crop Insurance Service (NCIS) changes. This includes identifying application changes, business changes and policy language changes which will affect business processes and customer workflows.
  • Contributes to the creation of the product vision, created by Product Manager and alignment with strategic priorities within Product Team; coordinates empowered product team to create product strategy
  • Collaboratively builds product roadmap and collaborates with Product Team to review product requirements including features, user stories, and acceptance test criteria based on strategy and ongoing input from stakeholders.
  • Uses Problem/Solution fit techniques to build and iterate on roadmap; incorporates Customer Experience team to assist in defining the user experience, support, and monitoring for customers.
  • Communicates expected value and any changes in value to by iteration (sprint, monthly, quarterly, etcetera) based on the empowered team’s capacity.
  • Sets expectations with Product Team for delivery of new capabilities, features, and functionalities. Participates in demos, retrospectives, and all other applicable management routines.
  • Contributes to aligning development and business goals and priorities by collaborating with stakeholders and the squad/team to remove roadblocks to execution.
  • Works with Product Manager to do analysis of feasibility, cost ramifications, or other aspects of planned or potential changes to the product.
  • Provides insight and expertise on regulatory, compliance, and other crop insurance industry constraints on the product and prioritizes accordingly.
  • Contributes to and uses research-based data-driven insights in collaboration with CX and UX teams.
    • Responsible to coordinate interaction with the Product Team, specifically as liaison to Business Analyst
  • Works in an Agile environment and continuously reviews the business needs, refines priorities, outlines milestones and deliverables, and identifies opportunities and risks· Partners with functional areas to drive educating on the features and benefits, development of internal and external communications, sales support, and training materials· Owns and maintains the product backlog and is accountable for its contents, prioritization, and acceptance criteria. Accountable for clear, actionable user stories
  • Contributes to setting Sets priorities and actively participates in planning activities; responsible in achieving assigned product level KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) and OKRs (Objective Key Results)
  • Monitors and maintains product health, supporting long term product viability and efficiency, and balancing long and short term and costs with desired outcomes
  • Works daily in clarifying business requirements, removing roadblocks, constantly communicating, and supporting alignment around product strategy
  • Other duties and projects as assigned

What You Bring

  • Crop insurance industry experience required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, IT, or a related field, or the equivalent education and/or experience.
  • Knowledgeable of industry changes, legal updates, and technical developments related to applicable area of the Company’s business to proactively respond to changing business environment.
  • Working knowledge of crop lifecycle, all system interfaces, and anticipate downstream affects to all customer segments and employees when changes are made.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills with an emphasis on confidentiality, tact, and diplomacy.

Pay Transparency

The pay range for this position is $94,200 - $115,000 which includes geographic adjustments, where applicable. The pay range is the range THMCC, in good faith, believes is the range of compensation for this role at the time of this posting. The hired applicant will be offered pay within the entire range based on the candidate’s geographic location, qualifications, work experience, education, and/or skill level.
