GAINSCO is seeking a Product Owner, Automation & Innovation to help transform how work gets done across the organization. This role partners with operational, customer-facing, and technology teams to identify opportunities where artificial intelligence, intelligent automation, process redesign, and emerging technologies can create measurable business value. You will build and manage a roadmap of transformation opportunities, lead experimentation, and move promising ideas from discovery through pilots and scalable implementation. The ideal candidate combines strong product ownership experience with curiosity, business acumen, and the ability to influence cross-functional teams without direct authority.
What does a Product Owner- Automation & Innovation do at GAINSCO?
- Develop and prioritize a roadmap of AI, automation, and process transformation opportunities aligned with business strategy.
- Partner with business leaders to identify high-value problems, define measurable outcomes, and build business cases for proposed solutions.
- Lead discovery workshops, design-thinking sessions, proofs of concept, pilots, and minimum viable products using a test-and-learn approach.
- Work with business and technology teams to deliver generative AI, intelligent automation, digital workflow, document intelligence, self-service, and decision-support solutions.
- Translate business needs into product requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, success metrics, and adoption plans.
- Monitor solution adoption, operational impact, customer outcomes, and value realization while supporting governance, security, scalability, and responsible AI practices.
- Build cross-functional alignment, support organizational change, and champion innovation and continuous improvement throughout the company.
What is required?
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Technology, Insurance, or a related field required.
Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in Product Management, Product Ownership, Customer Experience, Business Analysis, or a related role is required.
- 3+ years of experience within Property and Casualty insurance is required, preferably non-standard auto insurance.
- Experience working in Agile and Scrum environments and partnering with technical teams throughout the product development lifecycle.
- Experience gathering requirements, writing user stories and acceptance criteria, prioritizing initiatives, and managing product backlogs.
- Strong understanding of auto insurance operations, including underwriting, billing and collections, policy administration systems, insurance regulations, enterprise content management, and phone systems.
- Experience using data and analytics to identify opportunities, establish priorities, measure outcomes, and support business decisions.
- Experience with analytics platforms such as Power BI, Tableau, Adobe Analytics, or Google Analytics.

- Proven ability to lead complex, cross-functional initiatives and deliver them predictably.
- Ability to influence decisions, establish alignment, and lead without direct authority.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to develop business cases, ROI analyses, and value realization plans.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, including the ability to present strategy, priorities, risks, and outcomes to leaders at all levels.
- Curious and innovative mindset with a willingness to challenge assumptions, test new ideas, and learn from results.
- Ability to balance innovation with scalability, security, governance, regulatory requirements, and responsible AI practices.
