About the role Themes shape how millions of merchants show up to the world. A small, expert community of theme developers builds many of the best storefronts on Shopify, and that community sits at an important moment. How merchants design their stores is changing fast, and theme partners will lead that change with us. We are looking for a Partner Manager to own our relationships with this group of roughly 100 theme developers. You will be their main point of contact at Shopify. Partner Success is the craft of building deep, merchant-first relationships and using Shopify expertise and ecosystem insight to drive shared growth. In this role that means helping partners grow, helping them adapt as the way merchants build storefronts evolves, and shepherding them through one of the most important shifts this community has faced. You will sit on the same side of the table as your partners: aligning incentives, solving high-value problems, and influencing internally so their success scales into partner, merchant and Shopify success. You will also help shape what a fair, durable value exchange looks like for this cohort as the model evolves. This is a role for someone who is energized by ambiguity, builds trust quickly, can navigate complexity, and can hold an honest conversation even when the answers are still forming. What you will do Own a portfolio of high-value theme partners end to end. Be partner obsessed and merchant first. Know their business, their goals, and what success looks like for each of them, and take extreme ownership of the outcomes. Set clear partnership goals and metrics, track performance, and use product, commercial, and financial context to keep partners moving forward.. Shepherd this cohort through change. The storefront design landscape is shifting toward blocks, composable systems, and AI-assisted building. You will help partners see where they fit and how to grow, and you will bring them practical options rather than platitudes. Help shape the next business model for theme partners, then lead the negotiations, migration paths, and difficult conversations required to carry the cohort through change. Act as the bridge between partners and senior stakeholders across product, engineering, and finance. Bring the partner perspective into roadmap and program decisions while navigating Shopify’s product strategy and tradeoffs. Use data and partner feedback to identify systemic gaps in the program, tooling, and documentation, drive improvements, and raise the quality of the Partner Success craft. What you bring You are an excellent communicator and stakeholder leader. You can align senior partnership, product, and commercial leaders, handle tension well, and have candid conversations with partners. You solve high-value problems with the full picture in view, including partner goals, product dependencies, commercial realities, and financial implications. You think from first principles. You do not settle for orthodox approaches unless they are genuinely the best, and you are comfortable when the path is not yet drawn. You build trusted relationships and turn partner insight and industry shifts into measurable outcomes for partners, merchants, and Shopify. You understand Shopify’s platform and how storefronts are built, including theme architecture, blocks, and design and UX best practices, so you can engage credibly with theme developers and internal teams. You own your work end to end, exhibit good judgment, and follow through. You are right often. Bonus Experience managing partners, developers, or a marketplace ecosystem. Background in e-commerce, storefront design, or agency work. Familiarity with how partner business models work, including one-time and recurring revenue.
