In this role, you will drive the growth of Wärtsilä's Navigation, Engineering, and Liquid Cargo Handling simulation solutions across France and other French-speaking markets. Working closely with maritime academies, training centres, shipping companies, and naval organizations, you will help customers identify the simulation solutions that best support their training and operational needs.

Reporting to the Head of Simulation Product Sales Europe, you will manage customer opportunities across the full sales lifecycle while contributing to safer, smarter, and more sustainable maritime operations. The role involves frequent travel across the region (50%-60% of the working days).

Your role and responsibilities

As a Product Sales Manager, Simulation, you will develop and manage customer opportunities across the full sales lifecycle, from identifying customer needs to contract award and long-term account development.

As a Product Sales Manager, Simulation you will focus on these responsibilities:

  • Building and maintaining long-term customer relationships while understanding customer training, operational needs, and business challenges.
  • Leading and coordinating tenders, quotations, proposals, and contract negotiations, ensuring high-quality and timely submissions.
  • Collaborating with technical experts to develop customer-focused simulation solutions.
  • Representing Wärtsilä at customer meetings, demonstrations, conferences, and industry events.
  • Gathering market insights to support business growth and future product development.
  • Working closely with Product Management, Marketing, Delivery, Support, and the wider Marine Sales organization to maximize customer value.
  • Identifying and developing new business opportunities within existing and prospective customer accounts.

Requirements for the position

  • Previous seagoing experience as a Deck Officer, Engineer Officer, Dual Officer, or Naval Officer.
  • Maritime education, Officer certification, Maritime academy qualification, Bachelor's degree, or equivalent maritime industry experience. We particularly value maritime expertise and industry knowledge, and candidates with operational maritime backgrounds will be particularly well suited to this role.
  • Good understanding of maritime operations, training requirements, and certification frameworks.
  • Previous experience in technical sales within the Marine industry is highly appreciated.
  • Ability to engage with customers and build trusted customer relationships and provide consultative, solution-oriented sales support.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Results-driven mindset with a high degree of ownership and accountability.
  • Professional proficiency in both French and English (C1/C2 level).
  • Willingness to travel frequently across France, and other French-speaking markets such as French-speaking Africa (approximately 50-60% travel).

As an ideal candidate you might also have…

  • Experience with maritime simulation systems, maritime training environments, or professional simulation solutions (e.g. Navigation, Engine Room, or Cargo Handling simulators).
  • Knowledge of maritime training regulations and certification frameworks, including the IMO STCW Convention.
  • Experience in technical, consultative, or solution-based sales.
  • A proactive mindset, with the confidence to identify opportunities, take ownership, and drive results.
  • The ability to translate complex customer needs into practical, value-driven solutions.
  • A collaborative approach and enjoyment of working across cultures, teams, and functions in an international environment.
