Penguin Random House Grupo Editorial is seeking a detail-oriented Production Editor to join our Miami team and help bring a wide range of Spanish-language books from manuscript through final publication in print and digital formats. Working across fiction and nonfiction, original works and translations, this position will report to the Editorial Director and collaborate closely with editorial, design, and production colleagues to ensure every title meets our standards for editorial quality, accuracy, and consistency.

The Production Editor manages the editorial production of multiple Spanish-language titles simultaneously across different stages of production. The role combines project coordination, quality control, and the management of freelance editorial professionals with hands-on copyediting and proofreading.

Success in this role requires exceptional command of written Spanish, meticulous attention to detail, strong editorial judgment, and the ability to keep multiple projects moving accurately and on schedule.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Select, hire, and oversee freelance editorial professionals, including translators, copyeditors, proofreaders, graphic designers, and other contributors as needed, ensuring their work meets editorial and project standards.
  • Perform quality-control reviews and consolidate editorial changes from authors, editors, and freelancers throughout the production process, resolving queries and identifying issues that require further editorial attention.
  • Copyedit and proofread Spanish-language content for accuracy, grammar, spelling, punctuation, style, and consistency, including manuscripts, page proofs, covers and jackets, and other book-related materials.
  • Partner closely with Editorial, Design, and Production teams to move titles through production, resolve editorial or production issues, maintain schedules and meet deadlines.
  • Manage multiple titles and competing priorities simultaneously, maintaining accurate project status and communicating clearly with internal teams and external contributors.

  • Native Spanish, with exceptional command of Spanish grammar, spelling, punctuation, usage, and style
  • Minimum 3 years of publishing experience
  • Professional working proficiency in English, with the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and external partners in a bilingual working environment
  • Demonstrated professional experience in copyediting, proofreading, or editing Spanish-language content, with strong editorial judgment and exceptional attention to detail
  • Strong organizational and project-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize competing demands, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Expert proficiency in Microsoft Word for electronic copyediting and manuscript review, and Adobe Acrobat, including PDF markup and editorial proofing tools
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively
