Show job description

Dennis Media Group is looking for a highly capable, organized, and adaptable Production Manager to take ownership of the day-to-day production operation across our studio, content brands, podcast productions, and post-production pipeline.

Our Content
Dennis Media Group produces creator-led content for personal brands, including Karlton Dennis, Tax Alchemy, Kristian and Soho. Our output includes short-form video for Instagram, TikTok and YouTube Shorts, long-form YouTube, a podcast, and content and live events that support high-ticket offers. You will work directly with on-camera talent who are business owners and educators, not trained actors, and you will be responsible for the quality of what goes out.

This is not a traditional videographer role.

The Production Manager will be responsible for ensuring that content projects move efficiently from planning and scheduling through filming, post-production, revisions, approval, and final completion.

You will work closely with Karlton Dennis, internal talent, editors, contractors, and the broader media team while overseeing production across multiple brands and projects.

This role will also own the day-to-day operation of the Irvine studio and must be technically capable of running in-studio productions, including cameras, lighting, audio, and multi-camera setups.

The right person will be highly organized, technically competent, comfortable working with high-level talent, capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously, and able to operate effectively in a fast-moving environment with high expectations.

Most importantly, we are looking for someone who takes ownership.

We do not want someone who believes their responsibility ends when filming ends.

If a project enters the production pipeline, the Production Manager should maintain visibility and accountability over that project until it is completed.

Key Responsibilities

Production Management

  • Oversee the production pipeline across Karlton Dennis, Tax Alchemy, Kristian, Soho, podcast productions, and other Dennis Media Group projects.
  • Track projects from pre-production through filming, editing, revisions, approval, delivery, and archival.
  • Maintain clear visibility into the status of every active production.
  • Coordinate production timelines, priorities, deadlines, and resources.
  • Identify bottlenecks and proactively resolve issues that could delay production.
  • Ensure projects do not stall between filming and post-production.
  • Coordinate handoffs between talent, production, editors, copywriters, social media team members, and other stakeholders.
  • Maintain organized production systems inside tools such as Notion and other project-management platforms.
  • Communicate proactively when deadlines, priorities, or production needs change.
  • Escalate problems appropriately rather than allowing projects to remain unresolved.
  • Help improve production systems, workflows, checklists, and operating procedures.

Post-Production Pipeline

  • Take ownership of projects after filming and ensure they continue moving toward completion.
  • Coordinate footage and asset handoffs to editors.
  • Make sure editors receive all required footage, creative direction, scripts, graphics, assets, and supporting materials.
  • Establish and track editing deadlines.
  • Follow up on projects that are delayed or approaching deadline.
  • Coordinate revision requests and make sure feedback is clearly communicated.
  • Confirm revisions have been completed correctly.
  • Track project versions and approval status.
  • Assist with quality control before projects are considered complete.
  • Ensure final deliverables are organized, properly stored, and accessible to the appropriate team members.
  • Maintain accountability across internal and external editors.

The Production Manager does not need to personally edit every project.

The expectation is that they are responsible for making sure the editing process gets completed.

If something has been filmed, the Production Manager should be able to answer:

  • Where is the footage?
  • Who is editing it?
  • What stage is the project in?
  • When is the next version due?
  • Are revisions outstanding?
  • Who needs to approve it?
  • Has the final deliverable been completed?

In-Studio Production

  • Operate professional multi-camera setups for studio productions.
  • Film Karlton and other Dennis Media Group talent inside the Irvine studio.
  • Set up and manage cameras, professional lighting, audio, lenses, monitors, microphones, and related production equipment.
  • Prepare the studio before recording sessions.
  • Test all production equipment before talent or guests arrive.
  • Monitor recordings and identify technical issues during production.
  • Maintain visual and technical consistency across recurring productions.
  • Assist with quality control of recorded content before it moves into post-production.
  • Collaborate with the broader media team on production improvements and studio workflows.

This role is expected to be technically capable enough to independently operate the studio.

External videography, travel production, event filming, and location shoots will be handled by the dedicated videographer role.

Podcast Production

  • Take significant ownership of Karlton's podcast production operation.
  • Coordinate guest outreach and follow-up.
  • Maintain a pipeline of prospective, contacted, confirmed, and previously recorded guests.
  • Communicate professionally with guests, representatives, assistants, and other stakeholders.
  • Coordinate scheduling and recording logistics.
  • Send confirmations, recording details, location information, and other necessary communication.
  • Prepare the studio before each recording.
  • Operate multi-camera podcast productions.
  • Manage microphones, audio recording, lighting, framing, camera settings, media, and monitoring.
  • Make sure every podcast recording is fully tested and production-ready before the guest arrives.
  • Help create a comfortable and professional environment for podcast guests.
  • Organize footage and audio following each recording.
  • Coordinate the handoff to editors.
  • Track post-production, revisions, approvals, and episode completion.

The podcast is an important part of this position, but it is not the only production responsibility.

The Production Manager will oversee production across multiple Dennis Media Group brands and content initiatives.

Studio Management

  • Take ownership of the day-to-day organization and readiness of the Irvine studio.
  • Keep cameras, lenses, microphones, lighting, batteries, memory cards, cables, and accessories organized and ready for use.
  • Maintain equipment and identify problems before they interfere with production.
  • Make sure batteries are charged, cards are prepared, settings are correct, and equipment is returned to its proper location.
  • Reset the studio after productions.
  • Maintain an organized and professional production environment.
  • Maintain studio production checklists.
  • Track equipment needs, repairs, maintenance, and replacements.
  • Make sure the studio is ready before every scheduled production.

The goal is for Karlton or another member of the talent team to be able to walk into the studio and begin filming without worrying about whether the production environment is prepared.

File & Data Management

  • Manage the transfer, organization, backup, and storage of production footage.
  • Maintain consistent folder structures and file naming conventions.
  • Work within cloud and local storage systems including Dropbox, Google Drive, SSDs, and centralized media storage.
  • Ensure footage is properly backed up.
  • Make sure editors and other members of the media team can quickly access the footage and assets they need.
  • Maintain an organized archive so previously recorded content can be located quickly.
  • Ensure completed projects and final deliverables are stored appropriately.
  • Help establish and maintain media-management SOPs.

Production Calendar & Team Coordination

  • Manage and maintain the studio production calendar.
  • Coordinate filming sessions across Karlton, Tax Alchemy, Kristian, Soho, podcast guests, and other DMG productions.
  • Coordinate with internal talent, the media team, and other stakeholders regarding upcoming shoots.
  • Make sure the correct content, scripts, talking points, assets, guests, and production requirements are prepared before each session.
  • Coordinate studio availability and talent schedules.
  • Monitor upcoming content needs and production deadlines.
  • Communicate proactively when schedules or priorities change.
  • Work closely with copywriters, editors, social media team members, leadership, and contractors to keep production moving.
  • Help prevent scheduling conflicts and avoid unnecessary production downtime.

Talent & Guest Coordination

  • Communicate directly with Karlton and other Dennis Media Group talent regarding upcoming productions.
  • Coordinate with podcast guests, executives, entrepreneurs, creators, public figures, representatives, and assistants.
  • Maintain professional communication before, during, and after productions.
  • Ensure talent understands where they need to be, when they need to be there, and what is required from them.
  • Follow up consistently and professionally when needed.

  • Help maintain a professional experience for guests and talent visiting the studio.

Qualifications & Required Experience

We are looking for someone with strong professional experience across production, project management, studio operations, and post-production workflows.

The ideal candidate has:
  • Professional production-management experience.
  • Experience producing content for a personal brand, creator, coach, or education business that sells high-ticket offers.
  • Understanding of hooks, viewer retention, and short-form pacing, and the ability to review an edit against those standards before it is approved.
  • Experience overseeing multiple simultaneous video or media projects.
  • Experience managing projects from production through post-production and final delivery.
  • Strong understanding of video-production workflows.
  • Experience coordinating editors and managing revision cycles.
  • Experience with professional multi-camera productions.
  • Working knowledge of Sony professional camera systems, preferably including FX3, FX6, A7S III, or similar systems.
  • Strong understanding of camera settings, lenses, exposure, frame rates, lighting, and audio.
  • Experience filming podcasts, interviews, YouTube content, and short-form social media content.
  • Experience managing a professional studio environment.
  • Strong organizational and file-management skills.
  • Experience with platforms such as Notion, Slack, Frame.io, Dropbox, and Google Drive.
  • Experience working directly with talent, executives, creators, or public-facing personalities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities without constant supervision.
  • Strong deadline-management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • A strong sense of personal responsibility and ownership.

The Personality We're Looking For

Technical knowledge alone will not make someone successful in this position.

Karlton operates quickly, has high standards, and expects the people around him to take their responsibilities seriously.

We need someone who:
  • Handles direct feedback without becoming defensive.
  • Can work around strong and intense personalities.
  • Remains calm and productive when pressure increases.
  • Has the confidence to respectfully speak up when their expertise matters.
  • Does not allow ego to interfere with getting the job done.
  • Can adjust quickly when priorities change.
  • Communicates clearly rather than allowing problems to build.
  • Takes initiative instead of waiting to be instructed.
  • Pays attention to small details.
  • Maintains a positive and professional attitude.
  • Is comfortable receiving responsibility and being held accountable for results.
  • Understands when to push back and when to execute.
  • Can build trust with the people they are supporting.
  • Naturally follows up rather than assuming someone else will handle it.
  • Does not allow projects to quietly fall behind.
  • Takes pride in creating organized systems and reliable workflows.

What Success Looks Like

A successful Production Manager becomes the person Karlton and the broader media team can rely on to keep the production operation moving.

The studio is ready when someone walks in.
The cameras work.
The audio is tested.
The batteries are charged.
The files are organized.
The footage is backed up.
The production calendar is accurate.
Guests know where they are supposed to be.
Talent knows what is being filmed.
Editors receive footage and assets on time.
Deadlines are tracked.
Revisions are followed up on.
Projects do not disappear after filming.
The team knows where every active production stands.
If something begins falling behind, you identify it before leadership has to ask.
When something goes wrong, you take ownership of getting it resolved.
Karlton should not regularly need to ask:
  • Is the studio ready?
  • Is tomorrow's production confirmed?
  • Did the editor get the footage?
  • Where is that video?
  • When are revisions coming back?
  • Is the Tax Alchemy project finished?
  • Where is Kristian's content?
  • What happened with the Soho production?
  • Has the podcast episode been completed?
  • Did we follow up with that guest?
The goal is for you to become the operational center of Dennis Media Group's production process and someone the entire media team trusts to keep projects moving from production through completion.

This Role Is Probably Not For You If
  • You only want to operate a camera.
  • You only want to work on one brand or one type of content.
  • You dislike organizational or administrative responsibilities.
  • You do not enjoy project management.
  • You believe your responsibility ends when filming ends.
  • You need detailed instructions before taking action.
  • You become overwhelmed when priorities change.
  • You have difficulty receiving direct feedback.
  • You struggle to follow up with people consistently.
  • You are uncomfortable holding editors, contractors, or team members accountable to deadlines.
  • You dislike managing calendars, files, project statuses, or production systems.
  • You do not enjoy working closely with other people.
  • You believe studio cleanup, equipment organization, file management, scheduling, or project tracking is beneath you.
  • You are looking for a freelance-style role where you show up for a shoot and leave when filming ends.
This is a high-trust position for someone who wants to take real ownership of a growing media operation.

The goal is not simply to hire someone who participates in production.

The goal is to hire someone who makes sure production gets completed.
