Department (OHEHR) AI - AIDS Institute Job Description: Responsibilities The Program Research Specialist III will work in the Division of Epidemiology, Evaluation and Partner Services (DEEP) within the AIDS Institute (AI). The incumbent will design and implement qualitative and mixed-methods research and evaluation projects that support HIV surveillance, epidemiology, and syndemic initiatives. This work will examine the complex social, behavioral, structural, and health system factors that influence HIV and related health conditions, generating evidence to inform public health practice, program planning, and collaborative responses across intersecting public health priorities. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in a related field and three years of research experience in the collection and analysis of data; OR an Associate’s degree in a related field and five years of such experience; OR seven years of such experience. A Master's degree in a related field may substitute for one year of such experience. Preferred Qualifications Master's degree or higher in Public Health, Epidemiology, Sociology, Anthropology, Psychology, Social Work, Implementation Science, Evaluation, or a closely related field. Experience supporting or conducting qualitative or mixed-methods studies and evaluation activities. Experience with qualitative surveys, focus groups, key informant interviews, or diverse stakeholder groups. Proficiency with qualitative data analysis software such as NVivo, ATLAS.ti, MAXQDA, Dedoose, or similar platforms. Knowledge of HIV, sexually transmitted infections, hepatitis C, substance use and social determinants of health. Demonstrated ability to communicate complex findings through reports, presentations, data visualizations, manuscripts, or policy briefs. Experience authoring or co-authoring peer-reviewed publications, conference abstracts, or technical reports. Conditions of Employment Grant funded position. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables, is required. Valid and unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S. is required. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. Travel up to 25% of the time will be required. The selected candidate must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of the official work location specified in the job posting and must also be located in or willing to relocate to one of the following states: New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Vermont, or Massachusetts, prior to hire. This position will become eligible for a hybrid work schedule, with a combination of onsite and remote work, after a waiting period of approximately 6 months, subject to satisfactory job performance, management approval and operational needs. Regardless of telecommuting status, all HRI employees must live within a reasonable commuting distance of their official work location and must reside in one of the following states: New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts, or Vermont.
