Program Specialist Requisition ID req37878 Working Title Program Specialist Position Grade 12 Position Summary Plans and implements Food as Medicine grant-funded program for UNM Community Engagement Center (CEC). Participates in the generation of program resources and in the design and development of program operating goals and objectives. Responsible for the appropriate use of programmatic funds within the parameters of the grant, up to approximately $30,000 per fiscal year. Represents the program to both internal UNM departments/units and off campus community partners with respect to program implementation and operational matters, and provides technical/professional and programmatic guidance, consultation, and support to community partners as appropriate. Term position tied to the funding period of grant/legislative funds. Duties and Responsibilities Plans and coordinates the development and implementation of monthly Food as Medicine (NM-FaM) network meetings. Oversees and administers all facets of the day-to-day operations of NM-FaM. Serves as a liaison between UNM CEC and off-campus network partners on all matters relating to program activities; represents the University with respect to program activities on a local and regional basis. Ability to consult with community members and to analyze and interpret educational, training, and in-service needs. Plans, develops, and implements strategies for identifying and generating funding and/or resource opportunities for NM-FaM program activities. Creates, produces, and delivers a range of promotional, educational, and informational presentations, and/or resource materials. Assists in collection, compilation, and analysis of program activity data Advises on operating goals and objectives for the program; identifies opportunities to enhance program operations in order to achieve greater efficiencies and effectiveness and to fulfill program objectives. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned. See the Position Description for additional information. Conditions of Employment Employees who provide services or work in patient care or clinical areas are required to be in compliance with the University's influenza vaccination requirement. If located at the UNM Children's Campus, successful candidate must pass a comprehensive post-offer, pre-employment criminal and New Mexico Children, Youth and Families Department (CYFD) fingerprint background check, and a continued successful status will be verified by periodic future background checks. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or GED; at least 6 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree related to NM-FaM; at least 2 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Demonstrated experience of maintaining relationships with community-based organizations, higher educational institutions, community leaders and training professionals to provide the Network members with resources and technical support needed Strong commitment to CEC Vision Mission and Core Values and the power of collective impact to transform communities Understanding of nutrition education and community engagement. Program planning, development, implementation, and leadership skills. Ability to develop and deliver both oral and written presentations. Ability to use independent judgment and to manage and impart information to a range of community and UNM partners. Ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments. Ability to develop and implement funding strategies and programs.
