About the Role

National Energy System Operator’s (NESO) strength lies in our people. Together, we’re shaping the future where clean, affordable energy is accessible for all.

We're looking for a proactive and organised Project Analyst (PMO) to join our high-performing Major Programme Delivery team at the National Energy System Operator (NESO).

As part of our Transformation & Major Projects Directorate, you'll have the opportunity to contribute to a variety of important projects and programmes, working alongside experienced colleagues in a collaborative and supportive environment.

You'll play a key role in helping projects run smoothly by supporting planning, coordination, governance and reporting activities. Working closely with Project Managers and stakeholders, you'll help monitor progress, track risks and actions, and ensure teams have the information they need to make informed decisions.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys bringing structure to complex activities, building positive working relationships and finding ways to make things work better. We value people who take initiative, share ideas and enjoy working together to achieve successful outcomes.

Based in either Warwick or Wokingham, you'll benefit from hybrid working, with typically 1–2 days per week on site, depending on the needs of the projects you're supporting.

Key Accountabilities

  • Project Coordination & Planning: Support the development and maintenance of project plans, helping teams track milestones, deliverables and dependencies.
  • Project Governance: Coordinate governance activities, prepare meeting materials, maintain project documentation and follow up on key decisions and actions.
  • Reporting & Analysis: Gather and analyse project information, prepare clear progress reports and provide insights to support effective decision-making.
  • Risk & Issue Management: Maintain RAID logs, monitor risks, issues and dependencies, and help identify areas requiring attention.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Develop positive working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders, supporting effective communication and collaboration across projects.
  • Financial & Performance Monitoring: Assist with budget tracking, forecasting and performance reporting to support successful project delivery.

Applicants must have the right to work in the UK by the start of employment. Visa sponsorship may not be available for this role and will be considered in line with business requirements.

About You

We'd love to hear from you if you have experience in a PMO, Project Analyst or Junior Project Manager role and enjoy supporting projects through effective organisation, coordination and governance.

You don't need to have followed a particular career path. What matters most is your ability to work collaboratively, take initiative and bring a thoughtful, organised approach to supporting project delivery.

We're particularly interested in people who bring:

  • Experience supporting projects or programmes, including coordination, governance, reporting or project administration.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage priorities, maintain accurate information and follow through on actions.
  • Good communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively with a range of stakeholders.
  • An analytical mindset, with the ability to interpret information, identify potential issues and contribute to practical solutions.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and PowerPoint, and an interest in using data to support project delivery.
  • A proactive and collaborative approach, with attention to detail and a willingness to learn and develop.

Experience with project management frameworks or qualifications such as PRINCE2 would be helpful, but isn't essential.

We recognise that people bring different experiences, skills and perspectives. If this opportunity interests you and you feel you could make a positive contribution, we'd encourage you to apply, even if you don't meet every requirement.
