Is this job info correct?
Location: Fully remote, anywhere in Canada
Type: Full-time, Permanent
Hours: Flexible. Our clients are in every province and territory, so some give-and-take on time zones comes with the job.
Start here
- We don't need someone to make decks that sit in a folder. We need someone who can design a plan and actually get the thing built. The kind of person who turns "we've been talking about this for ten years" into "we broke ground in the spring."
- Once a Nation's funding is approved, you own it. You run the project to completion, keep Eve, our delivery platform, current, and keep the Nation informed. Some days you'll be on a call with Chief and Council. Every day, you're the reason the work in front of them is solid and on schedule.
- This is an early role on a small team, so there's real room to grow into leading one.
About us
- melyn helps First Nations across Canada plan, fund, and build. Housing, infrastructure, governance, economic development, the grants that pay for all of it, and the software that ties it together. We build long plans, win real funding, and stick around to deliver. When the work goes well, a community gets housing, a Nation owns a business, and a Council leads with confidence.
What you'd actually do
- Run your own client engagements end to end in alignment with grant proposals: scope it, plan it, deliver it on time without anyone chasing you
- Be the person your clients talk to: build the relationship, run the calls, and keep Chief, Council, and staff moving
- Lead the thinking and writing on the big pieces: community plans, economic development plans, feasibility studies, business cases, and governance reviews
- Proactively communicate internally with leadership and team mates to ensure the project keeps moving and stays on schedule
- Build budgets and financial models that hold up in front of Council, a funder, and an auditor
- Know what your funder expects: milestones, reporting, claims, and close out, and deliver on them
What we're looking for
- Three or so years in strategy, consulting, economic development, project management, or advisory work. Have less, but real drive and a track record of getting things done? We'd still like to hear from you.
- A history of delivering hard things on time, running clients directly, and keeping several projects moving at once
- Strong writing and comfort with numbers. You can take a complex project and write five pages a Council or funder can act on, with a budget that survives scrutiny.
- Steady in a room with senior people, and you don't wait around to be told what to do
- Real respect for Indigenous self-determination, governance, and OCAP principles, and the humility to keep learning
Bonus points
- Past work with or for First Nations, Métis, or Inuit communities, organizations, or governments
- CPA, CFA, PMP; interested in pursuing any of those; or a strong head for numbers or project management
- A background in economic development, infrastructure, real estate, energy, forestry, or natural resources
- Comfort with AI tools (Claude) or building processes that help you work faster
Who you are
- You own every project end to end. Outreach goes out without anyone prompting you, updates land every week, and nothing sits waiting on you. When a Nation asks for something, it's back to them within a couple of days or they know why.
- This is a fast paced, high output team. You solve availability gaps rather than explain them, because slow turnaround on Nation work costs trust. You want to look back in a few years and point at real things that exist because you made them happen.
What you get
- Pay starts at $60,000 and rises with experience, plus an annual bonus tied to company success and your own performance
- Health, dental and life coverage, flexible time off, and a vacation entitlement that grows with your tenure
- Credit for what you ship, not how long you've been at it
- A team of experts to learn from and lean on, and a genuine path to leading as we grow
- Fully remote, work from anywhere in Canada
- A real platform behind you: melynBrain, our grant tools, an analyst bench, and document pipelines that take the grunt work off your plate
