Project Engineer - Air Quality

Job Title: Project Engineer Job Description We are seeking an experienced Project Engineer to support environmental compliance and engineering projects for government and commercial clients across multiple industries. This role offers the opportunity to lead technical projects from initial client engagement through design, permitting, execution, and project management. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in air quality permitting and regulatory compliance, along with the ability to support multidisciplinary environmental and engineering projects. Responsibilities Lead air quality compliance and permitting projects, including New Source Review (NSR), Title V, construction permits, permit modifications, and permit-by-rule applications. Develop emissions calculations, emissions inventories, regulatory reports, and compliance documentation. Interpret federal, state, and local air quality regulations and advise clients on compliance requirements. Manage projects from proposal development through execution, including scope, schedule, and budget oversight. Interface directly with clients, regulatory agencies, and project stakeholders. Support proposal preparation, technical writing, and business development activities. Provide occasional support on broader environmental compliance projects involving water, waste, and other regulatory programs. Coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to deliver successful project outcomes. Essential Skills Air Quality Compliance Experience Engineering, Scientific, or relevant 4-year degree Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related engineering discipline 7+ years of environmental engineering or regulatory compliance experience Strong knowledge of air quality regulations, permitting, emissions calculations, and compliance reporting Experience managing technical projects Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 Work Environment This is a 100% remote position, allowing for flexibility and work-life balance. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Oak Ridge, TN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $150000.00/yr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
