Project Finance Operations Specialist

CloudFit is seeking a detail-oriented and highly collaborative Project Finance Operations Specialist to support the financial execution of projects from contract award through cash collection. This role connects project teams, Operations, Finance, customers, and vendors to strengthen billing accuracy, cash visibility, financial performance, and operational excellence across a diverse contract portfolio.
The ideal candidate combines strong financial operations experience with an engineering and automation-first mindset and a passion for building scalable solutions that support company growth.

What You'll Do
• Manage project billing activities across a portfolio of government and commercial contracts.
• Develop and maintain billing schedules aligned with contractual requirements and project milestones.
• Prepare and submit accurate customer invoices while tracking billing status, exceptions, unbilled activity, and collection follow-through.
• Monitor project cash positions and provide timely updates that support forecasting and business decisions.
• Support project purchasing and vendor payment processes by validating invoices against approved budgets, commitments, purchase orders, and contractual requirements.
• Partner with project managers and operational leaders to identify and resolve billing, payment, contract, and cash-flow issues.
• Maintain clear documentation, standard operating procedures, and work instructions for project finance processes.
• Engineer and automate workflows that improve efficiency, data quality, visibility, and control.
• Assist with contract intake, project setup, billing terms, contract modifications, and other quote-to-cash activities.
• Support continuous improvement across Finance, Operations, and Project Delivery.

What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• Experience supporting billing, accounts receivable, project accounting, finance operations, or contract administration.
• Strong understanding of invoice management, collections, and financial documentation.
• Experience working with project budgets, purchase orders, vendor invoices, commitments, and cost tracking.
• Ability to translate contract, project, budget, invoice, and payment data into accurate, actionable financial information.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage competing priorities.
• Clear communication, sound judgment, and a collaborative customer-service approach.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and modern business systems.

Preferred Qualifications
• Experience supporting federal government contracts.
• Familiarity with project-based accounting or ERP systems.
• Experience documenting business processes and implementing operational improvements.
• Knowledge of contract terms, billing structures, and project financial management.
• Experience using automation or AI-enabled tools to improve business workflows.

The salary range for this role is $75,000 - $92,000 + benefits & perks. PST Time Zone preferred. This is a REMOTE position

Current Federal Security Clearance or ability to obtain (US Citizenship required)
