Your Opportunity AECOM is seeking a results-driven Senior Design-Build Project Manager to join our Buildings + Places team. In this role, you will lead the delivery of complex, high-profile projects using Design-Build and alternative delivery models, including Progressive or Modified Design-Build, Alliance, and Integrated Project Delivery. You will be embedded within high-performing, multidisciplinary teams acting as the single point of accountability for project delivery, integrating design and construction to achieve exceptional outcomes. This is a newly created position. You will play a critical leadership role, shaping project execution, driving commercial value engineering strategies, building lasting GC and client relationships while delivering impactful infrastructure and building projects across Canada. Why AECOM? • Shape Communities: Deliver landmark projects that define the future of our communities • Lead with Impact: Take ownership of complex Design-Build and alternative delivery projects and drive meaningful outcomes • Accelerate Your Career: Access structured leadership development, mentorship, and career advancement opportunities • Work with Industry Leaders: Collaborate with top-tier architects, engineers, and project leaders • Flexible & Supportive Environment: Competitive compensation, hybrid work model, and comprehensive benefits • Global Impact: Be part of a world-class team delivering complex infrastructure solutions at scale What You Will Do You will lead the full project lifecycle with a strong focus on integration, execution, and performance: Project Leadership & Delivery • Lead Design-Build and alternative delivery projects from early strategy through construction and close-out • Act as the single point of accountability for scope, schedule, budget, quality, and safety outcomes • Drive project execution strategies that integrate design, construction, and stakeholder requirements Design-Build Integration & Coordination • Partner with Design Build contractors, joint venture partners, consultants, and internal teams to ensure constructability and alignment • Lead multidisciplinary teams across architecture, engineering, and project controls • Ensure seamless integration between design development and construction execution Project Controls & Commercial Performance • Manage project financial performance including budgeting, forecasting, fee management, and margin optimization • Oversee change management, contract administration, and commercial risk management • Monitor progress against key milestones and implement corrective actions as required • Collaborate with stakeholders, GC estimators and design managers to deliver on commercial value engineering options Risk, Quality & Safety • Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate project risks (technical, commercial, and delivery) • Ensure compliance with AECOM’s quality management systems and safe work practices • Lead project reviews and ensure audit-defensible documentation Client & Stakeholder Management • Serve as the primary client interface, building trusted relationships and ensuring delivery excellence • Lead coordination with Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs), permitting bodies, and regulatory stakeholders • Facilitate effective communication across all project stakeholders Business Development & Growth • Support capture strategies, proposals, and client engagement activities • Contribute to strengthening AECOM’s Design-Build presence across Canada • Identify opportunities for repeat work and client expansion Minimum Requirements • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or related field + 8 (eight) years of experience managing multiple projects of various types and complexities for transportation, defence, institutional, and light industrial clients • Demonstrated experience delivering Design-Build or alternative delivery projects • Ability to obtain and maintain Government of Canada security clearances Security Clearance Requirements • Must hold or be eligible to obtain: o Reliability Status (minimum) o Secret Clearance (required for many federal projects) • Ability to comply with project-specific security protocols, including controlled site access and information handling requirements Preferred Qualifications • Professional designation (P.Eng. or Architect) • 15+ years of progressive project management experience delivering building or infrastructure projects • PMP certification; DBIA certification or equivalent is an asset • Strong commercial acumen with experience managing project financials, contracts, and change management • Proven leadership of multidisciplinary teams in complex project environments • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment Technical Skills • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (including Excel for financial tracking and reporting) • Experience with project scheduling tools (MS Project, Primavera, or equivalent) • Familiarity with project delivery and document control platforms (e.g., SharePoint, BIM 360, Aconex) • Working knowledge of project controls systems, reporting tools, and data-driven performance tracking Relocation is not available for this position.
