Are you an experienced project manager who enjoys working with farmers and building partnerships? Would you like to help deliver regenerative agriculture projects across Hungary? If so, this role could be the right fit for you.
What you can expect:
Preferred by Nature is looking for a Project Manager Regenerative Agriculture to lead Landscape Enterprise Networks (LENs) and other regenerative agriculture projects. Reporting to the Programme Manager Regenerative Agriculture, you will bring farmers, businesses and agronomists together to deliver landscape-scale solutions, manage partnerships and support new funding opportunities. Your work will support soil health, biodiversity, water stewardship, climate resilience and farmer livelihoods. This role has no direct reports. This is a full-time, remote position based in Hungary, with employment arranged through an Employer of Record (EOR).
Working with us is never routine, so in your first year you can expect the following areas to be central to your work.
Lead LENs Hungary and other regenerative agriculture projects with farmers, partners and PbN agronomists.
Manage plans, budgets, timelines, risks and documentation; deliver contractual commitments on time and to agreed quality.
Recruit and support LENs farmers, build agricultural networks and encourage adoption of regenerative practices.
Organise farmer engagement activities and use feedback to improve implementation.
Act as the main contact for partners and funders in Hungary; coordinate meetings, visits and progress updates.
Contribute to proposals, budgets, presentations, funding partnerships and new landscape initiatives.
Support monitoring and KPIs, maintain accurate farmer and project data, and prepare timely stakeholder reports.
Monitor spending, verify contractor and supplier deliverables, and support forecasting and financial reporting.
Your first year with us:
Within three months, you will:
Develop a strong understanding of LENs Hungary, PbN’s regenerative agriculture projects, contractual commitments and internal systems.
Build working relationships with farmers, partners, funders, PbN agronomists and the Programme Manager Regenerative Agriculture.
Establish a clear delivery plan, budget overview and monitoring priorities for the Hungary portfolio.
Within six months, you will:
Independently coordinate project delivery, farmer engagement and stakeholder communication against agreed plans.
Maintain reliable project and farmer records and deliver timely monitoring, financial and partner reports.
Actively support funding proposals and identify partnership opportunities for regenerative agriculture in Hungary.
Within twelve months, you will:
Deliver the milestones due in the first year within approved budgets and to agreed quality standards.
Strengthen farmer participation and use implementation feedback and monitoring results to improve project delivery.
Contribute to new funding and landscape opportunities and agree priorities for the following year with the Programme Manager.
Important that you:
Hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management, Rural Development, Geography, Sustainability, Business Administration, Project Management or a related field.
Have at least five years of project management experience and experience managing multi-stakeholder partnerships.
Bring skills in project and budget management, monitoring, evaluation and reporting, and data management, analysis and interpretation.
Have strong organisational, stakeholder management, communication and facilitation skills, with cultural sensitivity.
Bring commercial awareness, sound judgement and problem solving; work independently and manage competing priorities.
Demonstrate working-level fluency in both Hungarian and English.
Hold a valid driving licence, have access to a personal vehicle and be willing to travel extensively within Hungary, including regular farm and project-site visits.
Would also be great, but not necessary, if you:
Hold PRINCE2, PMP or an equivalent project management qualification; this is a strong advantage.
Have experience working with farmers and agricultural stakeholders or with grant or donor-funded projects.
Understand agricultural systems and sustainability challenges, and regenerative agriculture principles and practices; these are highly desirable.
If this sounds like you, we would love to hear from you!
