Job Description
Our client, a leading global healthcare and consulting organization, is seeking an experienced Project Manager, which involves establishing and maintaining project governance, driving integrated planning and tracking, and enabling cross-functional coordination across business, technology, QA, and consulting teams. This is a part-time contractual role supporting a large-scale healthcare transformation program, with responsibility for PMO processes, status reporting, RAID management, and delivery governance across multiple workstreams. The position offers a flexible remote working arrangement with occasional travel for key project milestones.
This is a contractual role through the end of February 2027 for 20 hours per week. There's a requirement of occasional travel to Client's Chicago-based office. Candidates located in the greater-Chicago area preferred.
The Role:
- Establish and maintain project governance, PMO processes, standards, templates, and operating cadence across all program workstreams.
- Manage integrated project plans, milestones, dependencies, deliverables, and critical-path activities; proactively identify and communicate schedule risks.
- Prepare weekly and monthly program status reports, dashboards, executive summaries, and steering committee materials covering progress, risks, issues, decisions, and key metrics.
- Own and maintain Risks, Assumptions, Issues, and Dependencies (RAID) logs; facilitate timely resolution and escalation of critical items.
- Coordinate activities across business, technology, QA, and consulting teams to ensure alignment and timely execution of program deliverables.
- Manage project governance meetings, including preparing agendas, capturing decisions and action items, and driving follow-ups to closure.
- Monitor deliverables and key milestones against the approved plan, identify delivery gaps, and collaborate with Project Managers and workstream leads on corrective actions.
- Maintain project documentation, decision logs, action trackers, governance artifacts, and project repositories to ensure transparency and auditability
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Project Manager or in a PMO/governance role, preferably within large, multi-workstream transformation programs.
- Strong expertise in project governance, integrated planning and tracking, and critical-path management.
- Demonstrated ability to prepare executive-level status reports, dashboards, and steering committee materials.
- Hands-on experience with RAID log management, risk identification, and issue escalation and resolution.
- Solid cross-functional coordination skills, with the ability to align business, technology, QA, and consulting teams.
- Proficiency with project management and collaboration tools, including Smartsheet, Jira, Confluence, and ServiceNow ticketing systems.
- Excellent documentation, organization, and knowledge management skills, with attention to auditability and transparency.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to drive meetings, decisions, and action items to closure.
- Ability to work effectively in a part-time (approximately 20 hours per week) remote capacity across Eastern and Central time zones.
- Willingness to travel occasionally to Chicago for quarterly governance sessions or key project milestones such as UAT.
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Business, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
