Requirements

Job Overview

The Project Manager oversees ARPA-H projects at Georgetown University Medical Center (GUMC). The Project Manager is the administrative lead for SEEDS (Sequence-to-disease, Environment-aware Ensembles of Disordered proteins at Scale), a multi-institution consortium funded by the Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA-H) under an Other Transaction Agreement and co-led by Georgetown University and the Buck Institute for Research on Aging. Reporting directly to the Lead Principal Investigator, the incumbent runs the business of the program: coordinating a consortium of academic, clinical, and industry performers; gathering and assembling reports and deliverables from across the team; tracking budgets and milestone-based payments; building business models and making fast decisions on operational and administrative matters. The Project Manager is also a strategic partner to the Lead PI, helping set priorities and plans, anticipating risks and opportunities across the consortium, and driving the execution of project strategy. ARPA-H programs move at a fast, milestone-driven cadence, and this position calls for someone who is highly organized, nimble, and able to keep many parallel workstreams moving on tight timelines.

Additional duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Coordinate, and sustain the multi-institution consortium, including onboarding performers, coordinating sub-agreements with university contracts offices, and running the consortium's operational and meeting structure.
  • Set reporting calendars, gather reports from teams at all performer sites, and assemble and quality-check progress reports, milestone packages, and other deliverables for PI review and timely submission to ARPA-H.
  • Track program budgets, spending, and milestone-based payments across project team partners, and ensure funds are allocated and distributed according to the approved program budget.
  • Partner with the Lead PI on consortium project strategy, priorities, and planning; prepare briefing materials; and drive follow-through on decisions and action items. Sustain academic and industry partner relationships.
  • Serve as the primary administrative point of contact for partner institutions, and university offices, and coordinate consortium communications and events.

These functions are performed in accordance with Georgetown University Medical Center's philosophy, policies, procedures, and standards.

Work Interactions

The Project Manager (PM) works at the center of a large, fast-moving, multi-institution program. The PM interacts daily with the Lead PI and program leadership at Georgetown. The PM also works regularly with principal investigators, administrators, and staff at academic, clinical, and industry performer sites; with ARPA-H program and contracting staff where required; and with Georgetown offices, including the Office of Sponsored Programs, Office of Technology and Commercialization, contracts, departmental finance, and communications with nimble execution.

This position reports directly to the Lead Principal Investigator of the SEEDS program. The PM performs these duties under the oversight of the Lead PI, exercising independent judgment on routine operational matters and bringing program-level decisions to the Lead PI for approval. The position does not currently have direct reports, but provides day-to-day administrative coordination to project staff and site administrators across participating institutions. Through meticulous project stewardship and collaborative engagement, the Project Manager directly supports Georgetown University’s mission to advance groundbreaking medical discoveries, foster ethical translational research, and serve the common good through transformative healthcare solutions. Overall position oversight is by the GUMC Vice President for Research.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in biology, neuroscience, biochemistry, pharmacology, or a closely related scientific discipline. (In lieu of a Master's degree, a minimum of 10 years of experience within the biomedical industry or supporting federally funded research will be considered).
  • Minimum of 5 years of scientific program and/or project management experience, preferably within the biomedical industry or directly supporting federally funded scientific research.
  • Proven track record of managing complex scientific programs, translational research projects, or multi-center initiatives.
  • Demonstrated understanding of therapeutic development processes across preclinical and early translational stages.
  • Strong familiarity with regulatory, ethical, and compliance frameworks governing federally funded research and medical device/therapeutic development.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, project management platforms, and electronic grant management software. Proficiency in effectively adopting AI for project management.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in a biomedical science field or PMP (Project Management Professional) certification.
  • Direct experience managing large federal grants or programs (ARPA-H, DARPA, NIH, or DoD).
  • Specialized familiarity with Neurodegeneration and Cancer (multiscale experimental and/or computational approaches)
