Project Overview

An IT managed services provider client is undertaking an IT services separation and transition from its parent group to a new outsourcing provider. This is the customer's first outsourcing experience involving coordination among three parties: the parent group, the customer business, and the new provider. The gig focuses on hands-on delivery to ensure successful transition execution.

Duration: Initial 3 months, probable extension to March 2027

Location: 2/3 days per week in Milton Keynes/Basingstoke - Occasional travel to Dubai

IR35: Outside, pending final determination

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Programme Manager to drive deliverables, monitoring and following up on actions and owners across all involved parties until closure
• Own and maintain the integrated project plan, updating it accurately as dependencies and dates shift
• Manage programme governance documents including RAID logs, decision logs, action trackers, and progress reports
• Ensure all parties meet milestones and escalate delays promptly
• Develop credible working relationships with board, executive, and client stakeholders within a flat organisational structure
• Understand infrastructure workstreams such as Microsoft Azure, on-premise, network, and end-user environments to challenge progress and identify risks

Required Skills and Experience

• Proven experience as a hands-on Project Manager or PMO Lead managing IT separations, carve-outs, transitions or outsourcing programs
• Strong programme control skills including integrated planning (preferably with MS Project or similar tools) and maintaining RAID, decision, and action logs
• Background in IT infrastructure, especially Microsoft Azure cloud and on-premise environments
• Persistent and tenacious approach, comfortable pushing third parties and senior stakeholders for responses
• Confident communication skills engaging with board, executive, and client stakeholders

Deliverables

• Up-to-date and accurate integrated project plan
• Programme governance artefacts: RAID log, decision log, action tracker, and progress reports
• Escalation reports for any milestone slippages
• Clear documentation of risks and progress in infrastructure workstreams
• This gig requires 1-3 days on-site weekly in Basingstoke or Milton Keynes. The initial duration is 3 months with possible extension to March 2027.
