Role Title: Provider Operations, Associate
About Mending
Mending is a team of healthcare nerds, software engineers, product designers, direct primary care doctors, health technology operators, and more. Our mission is to craft better health by accelerating the future of care.
Today, our products focus on Direct Primary Care (DPC). We build the technology and infrastructure that helps employers, health plans, TPAs, brokers, and DPC practices work together at scale. Our data platform integrates DPC into health plans in ways that lower costs, improve access, and deliver better outcomes for members. In doing so, we bring more patients into DPC practices while preserving what makes the model work.
Our aspirations for this role
As a Provider Operations Associate, you will serve as the operational backbone of our DPC supply team, keeping our foundational systems, credentialing vendors, and network compliance running smoothly. You’ll work across the full provider lifecycle, from hands-on onboarding and data hygiene to resolving payment inquiries, maintaining URAC compliance standards, and meeting directly with provider practices to solve complex operational challenges. This is a versatile, execution-focused role designed for an operational generalist who sees friction and acts on it independently without waiting for permission.
This role is perfect for a self-starter who’s hungry to learn, excited about operational efficiency, and eager to leverage emerging AI tools to work faster and smarter. Your proactive execution will ensure our providers feel heard, supported, and have a great experience while partnering with Mending.
Let’s dive into the details
Documentation and operational process ownership: own ongoing URAC compliance, regulatory documentation, credentialing vendor management (ie: Medallion), and audit readiness to keep network operations compliant and well-organized.
High-touch provider support: meet directly with DPC practices (via video or in-person where applicable) to walk through onboarding steps, troubleshoot platform questions, and resolve payment or contract inquiries face-to-face.
Provider onboarding and data hygiene: execute day-to-day credentialing workflows, roster data entry, and panel capacity tracking to ensure 100% accuracy in our employer marketplace directory.
Payments support: partner with our payments team to support DPC payment processing, fee reconciliations, and routine billing inquiry resolution.
Efficiency & AI-tooling: identify repetitive manual tasks across team workflows and leverage AI tools to multiply personal output and help the team go faster.
Experience that excites us
2–4 years of experience in operations, project management/coordination, analytics, or a related role
Exceptional attention to detail and follow-through
Highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple workstreams, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines without hand-holding
Comfortable working with data (Excel/Google Sheets proficiency, SQL/Python nice-to-have) and pulling reports to spot trends and surface insights
Strong written and verbal communication skills for working cross-functionally internally and externally
Comfort with ambiguity and excitement about building processes from scratch
Bias for action and strong initiative: you see something that needs fixing and act on it without waiting for permission
Healthcare or startup experience is a plus but not required
Salary Range*: $55,000 to $85,000 base and equity
*Subject to location and experience
