Organization Name: Council of State and Territorial Epidemiologists
Organization Description: CSTE is an organization of member states and territories representing public health epidemiologists. We also act as the professional home for individuals working in applied public health epidemiologists. CSTE works to advance public health policy and epidemiologic capacity. We provide information, education, and developmental support of practicing epidemiologists in a wide range of areas as well as expertise for program and surveillance efforts. For over six decades CSTE has worked with states to provide technical advice and assistance to partner health agencies such as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. More information can be found at www.cste.org.
CSTE offers a hybrid workplace model with the National Office location in Atlanta, GA with a majority of staff located in that area. Most Atlanta based staff telework partly in the National Office and partly from an alternative worksite, such as their home. CSTE also supports a distributed remote workforce across the country. Telework and remote work may be appropriate for some but not all positions. See posting details for eligibility.

Under the supervision of the Director of Educational Strategy, the Public Health Education Intern will support a variety of CSTE’s workforce development, instructional design, and education activities aimed at advancing epidemiologic capacity and public health practice.
The intern will apply adult learning principles, health education concepts, and competency-based frameworks to help design effective, learner-centered training. Work produced may directly support public health professionals and initiatives, with opportunities to contribute to tangible deliverables such as e-learning modules, training materials, and evaluation summaries suitable for a professional portfolio.
Core areas of work include curriculum development and implementation, training assessment, learning management system (LMS) administration, support for continuing education processes, and program evaluation. The intern will gain hands-on exposure to LMS platforms and training operations, building highly marketable skills in learning and development. Content areas may include workforce development, infectious diseases, surveillance and informatics, and non-infectious conditions or injuries.
Day-to-day activities include a combination of collaborative and independent work, such as participating in Zoom meetings and webinars, supporting virtual training logistics, collaborating with CSTE members and staff, conducting literature reviews, assisting with analysis of training effectiveness, and contributing to report writing and project coordination. The intern will also have opportunities to take ownership of discrete project components and contribute ideas to improve learning experiences.
