THE ROLE:
Upcycle Communications is seeking a highly motivated Associate Account Manager / Account Manager to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have prior agency experience in Public Relations and a solid rolodex of media and influencer contacts, proven track record in leading teams to deliver results, contributing to integrated campaigns, and fostering a positive work environment.
This is a core position responsible for creating and maintaining strong media and influencer relations as well as acting as a key day-to-day point of contact for clients, and supporting junior team members. You’ll help oversee the team’s workload, keep an eye out for any challenges, and bring them to your line manager’s attention as necessary. Clear communication, a collaborative spirit, and teamwork are key to being successful in this role.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Team Management
- Manage both upwards and downwards effectively, flagging potential issues to your line manager in a timely manner, and coming prepared with a well thought-out solution.
- Manage the scheduling and coordination of regular internal and client meetings.
- Effectively and constructively manage the workloads of the junior team, coordinating team efforts and inspiring other members to proactively achieve results and exceed expectations.
- Foster a culture of open communication and information sharing within your account teams.
- Ensure all team members are informed and across account activities at all times.
Client and Account Management
- Maintain smooth running of the individual client campaigns as day-to-day client contact.
- Demonstrate a sound understanding of the business and communications objectives of each client.
- Review reports, lists and drafted materials with a keen eye for detail.
- Help to maintain relationships with clients through daily contact and proactive management.
- Support senior managers and directors in setting and executing strategy on client accounts.
Media and Influencer Relations
- Build and maintain a network of local and regional media and influencer contacts, with an eye to incorporating more high-level editors and prestige titles.
- Take a proactive role in meeting key media and encouraging your junior team members to do the same.
- Handle forward feature planning and regular proactive media pitching on behalf of clients.
- Be able to confidently sell-in sophisticated stories and interviews to journalists.
- Draft and distribute a variety of written materials, including but not limited to press releases, bylines, content briefs, and be able to tailor each content piece as needed to the journalist you’re speaking to, in order to secure coverage.
Campaign Implementation, Research and Administration
- Conduct and oversee regular media monitoring for clients in offline and online media including social channels.
- Support the senior team in preparing new business proposals or presentations.
- Oversee the delivery of client campaigns, ensuring your team delivers the required activities and results, and stays aligned with the campaign plan and agreed KPIs.
- Organise weekly meetings, preparing and distributing agendas in advance, and sharing action points the following day.
- Collaborate with junior team members to ensure coverage trackers, media lists, and budget trackers are kept up to date.
Team Collaboration and Company Contribution
- Proactively volunteer to participate in activities beyond your day-to-day account work and responsibilities.
- Assist with updating the Upcycle website, social media (IG) and client list as needed.
- Represent the company at client and industry events.
- Take a lead role in the development of junior team members and provide feedback to your director or line manager in a timely manner.
- Collaborate effectively with your teams to achieve common goals.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 3-5 years’ experience in public relations, social media marketing, digital marketing or communications, ideally agency side in Singapore
- Possess a mix of skills across media relations, social media, influencer programmes, content, events, activations, and corporate profiling
- Existing network of relationships with media and influencers
- Excellent English communication both verbally and in writing
- Able to work with people at all levels and juggle multiple clients and projects, sometimes with conflicting priorities
- A Singaporean or PR
