QA Engineer | Part-time, 50% FTE | Remote | Competitive Salary

We’re looking for a QA Engineer to join a growing tech for good company, helping to ensure that the products and features being delivered are reliable, robust and ready for customers.

This is a hands-on role where you’ll have a real impact on the quality of the product, combining manual testing with targeted automation to catch issues early, strengthen test coverage and help the team deliver with confidence.

You’ll work closely with developers and key members of the delivery and engineering teams, getting involved throughout the development lifecycle. From understanding new requirements and identifying potential risks, through to planning and executing testing, you’ll play an important role in making sure new features, integrations and improvements work exactly as they should before they reach customers.

What you'll be doing

  • Review requirements and acceptance criteria, creating comprehensive test plans and test cases.
  • Carry out manual testing across web applications, APIs and integrations.
  • Perform functional, regression and smoke testing across different environments.
  • Identify, document and track defects, working closely with developers to investigate and retest fixes.
  • Develop and maintain automated tests for critical user journeys, APIs and high-risk regression areas.
  • Use tools such as Playwright, Cypress, Selenium or similar to increase automated test coverage.
  • Support the integration of automated testing into CI pipelines.
  • Validate release candidates and ensure agreed acceptance criteria and quality standards have been met.
  • Check test environments, configurations, data and integrations to ensure everything is working as expected.
  • Communicate testing progress, risks and issues clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Continuously improve QA processes, documentation and testing practices across the engineering team.

What we're looking for

  • Proven experience as a QA Engineer or Manual QA Engineer
  • Strong understanding of software testing methodologies and QA best practices.
  • Experience testing SaaS platforms, integrations or complex workflows would be beneficial.
  • Comfortable with manual testing across web applications and APIs.
  • Experience with test management and API testing tools, as well as using logs to support investigations.
  • Some experience with test automation and tools such as Playwright, Cypress, Selenium or similar.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify edge cases and subtle defects.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to understand dependencies and investigate issues.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical teams.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple testing activities and prioritise effectively.

The role

  • Permanent position
  • Part-time, 50% FTE, working 5 days per week
  • Flexible working hours, with flexibility around how you structure your hours across the week
  • You will need to be available to attend a 9.00am meeting once a week
  • Competitive salary, dependent on experience and skills
  • Generous annual leave and pension benefits

  • Please note: This role does not offer visa sponsorship. Applicants must have the right to work in the UK.
