We are seeking a Senior Quality Engineer to support a large-scale financial services technology organization responsible for delivering critical payment and settlement solutions used by financial institutions across the United States. This position is part of a highly collaborative technology team focused on ensuring the quality, reliability, and performance of strategic applications through both manual and automated testing practices. Position Overview The Senior Quality Engineer will partner closely with developers, product owners, business stakeholders, and QA team members to drive end-to-end software quality. This role requires strong ownership, technical testing expertise, and the ability to help define and champion quality engineering best practices. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in test automation, API testing, Java development, and quality assurance methodologies within Agile environments. Key Responsibilities Execute functional, integration, system, regression, and end-to-end (E2E) testing activities. Develop, maintain, and enhance automated testing frameworks and reusable test components. Create and manage comprehensive test cases, test plans, and regression test suites using risk-based testing methodologies. Perform UI testing for web applications and API testing for REST and SOAP services. Validate request/response payloads, service integrations, and API contracts. Track, verify, retest, and analyze defects throughout the software development lifecycle. Troubleshoot and review Java code to identify quality issues and support root cause analysis. Collaborate with development and product teams during design reviews, sprint activities, and release cycles. Prepare and maintain test data and participate in peer reviews of test artifacts. Support test environment setup, maintenance, and validation activities. Determine opportunities to convert manual test cases into automated scripts. Assist manual testing teams with automation strategies and implementation. Document testing results and provide recommendations for quality improvements. Participate in architecture reviews, special projects, and continuous improvement initiatives. Required Skills Playwright Java API Testing Postman Test Automation Test Case Management UFT (Unified Functional Testing) Preferred Qualifications Experience working in Agile development environments. Experience testing cloud-based applications. Knowledge of Behavior-Driven Development (BDD). Strong understanding of software development lifecycles and quality engineering best practices. Experience designing, developing, and debugging automated test frameworks. Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to collaborate effectively across technical and business teams. Salesforce testing or platform knowledge is a plus. Experience with Xray or similar test management tools preferred. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Kansas City, MO. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $70.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
