QA Engineer
Romania (Remote-first) | Contract | Start Now.
About Tribes
We're a UK digital technology company that builds real products for real clients — and we do it
faster than most because we're AI-first by design. We're hiring a QA Engineer to join our
Bucharest hub and take ownership of quality across a portfolio of complex, high-stakes
engineering engagements. You'll work closely with our engineers and CTO to ensure what we
ship is solid, well-tested, and production-ready.
About the Role
This is not a role for someone who writes test cases by hand and logs bugs in a spreadsheet.
We expect our QA engineers to use AI tooling as a core part of their workflow — generating test
cases, automating coverage, and moving fast without sacrificing rigour. You'll be embedded
across active engineering projects, working alongside developers from the earliest stages of a
build through to production release.
What You'll Do
Use AI tools to generate, review, and iterate on test cases as a core part of your daily workflow
Design and maintain automated test suites across front-end, back-end, and API layers
Work closely with engineers from the start of each project — shaping test strategy during
discovery, not after delivery
Own end-to-end test coverage across our client portfolio, including regression,
integration, and smoke testing
Identify, document, and track bugs with clarity — writing defect reports that engineers
can act on immediately
Contribute to CI/CD pipeline quality gates and help enforce standards around code
coverage and deployment readiness
Flag risk early — surface quality issues before they become client problems
What You'll Need
Proven experience in QA engineering, with a strong focus on test automation
Hands-on experience with modern automation frameworks — Playwright, Cypress, or
equivalent
Ability to write and maintain tests in JavaScript or TypeScript
Solid understanding of REST APIs and experience testing back-end services-
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and integrating automated tests into deployment
workflows
Willingness to fully adopt AI-assisted workflows as a core part of how you work
Good written and spoken English — you'll be working with UK-based stakeholders and
engineering teams
Self-directed — you take ownership, flag issues proactively, and drive quality without
being chased
Nice to Have
Hands-on experience with AI dev tools (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot, etc.) applied to
test generation or QA workflows
Experience testing applications built with Next.js or React
Exposure to performance testing, load testing, or accessibility auditing
Familiarity with .NET or Node.js back-end environments
Experience working across multiple concurrent client projects
What We Offer
Work with AI tooling that genuinely makes your job better and faster
Direct exposure to enterprise accounts and complex, meaningful projects
A supportive senior team invested in your growth
This is a remote-first role. We do not have a fixed office attendance requirement.
As a certified B Corp, we believe business should be a force for good. That means we care not
only about the quality of the software we build, but also about how we operate as a company —
supporting our team, acting with integrity, building long-term relationships, and creating positive
impact through the work we do. We're building a culture centred around trust, accountability, growth, and meaningful contribution, where talented people can do some of the best work of
their careers whilst helping shape a modern, responsible technology business.
