Build and improve QA systems for a $1Billion+ e-commerce brand to deliver reliable releases, reducing dependence on repeated manual checking.

Total Annual Package: Up to USD $115,500 + comprehensive benefits (Base salary + monthly performance bonus of up to 10% of base)

Location: Remote (Global)

Growth path from here is broader quality engineering and automation leadership, based on demonstrated results and business needs. Career progression that takes 4-5 years elsewhere can happen in 1-2 years here for high performers.

We've been AI-first since December 2023: this role applies that commitment to QA engineering, with personally executed automation and independently verified results. Own the quality and effectiveness of the workflows you implement, while retaining established QA release approvals.

This position is remote, with the option to work from our Dubai office (with 0% income tax), if preferred (relocation and visa sponsorship support available).

Role Overview:

Puffy, a market-leading, nine-figure D2C brand and Top 5 US mattress brand with over $1Billion in sales, is hiring a QA Engineering Lead to lead quality engineering and automation for Puffy.com, providing technical direction to the existing QA team while remaining personally hands-on across preventive QA processes, automation, AI-assisted test development, and coaching, reporting directly to the Organizational Effectiveness Manager.

This role exists to turn change briefs, known failures, and customer-journey evidence into reliable QA coverage that reduces escaped defects, release delays, and repetitive manual effort, while building a team that can operate and maintain improved workflows independently without weakening required QA approval.

The Problems You'll Own:

  • Primary: Reliable releases without recurring defects. Customer-facing defects and QA-related delays recur across ecommerce releases. Success means fewer escaped defects and repeat issues, alongside improved QA turnaround, demonstrated against established baselines.
  • Secondary: Independence without losing control. Extensive manual testing and dependence on a single reviewer constrain delivery. Success means lower total human effort, including review and correction, and a team that can execute independently while retaining required QA approval.

The Career Accelerator:

This is not a role where you simply run test checklists or report defects after a release.

  • The scope is scarce: you combine ecommerce QA, hands-on automation engineering, AI workflow development, and team coaching in one role, with critical customer journeys, A/B tests, and recurring viewport/UI issues as your first priority. You report directly to the Organizational Effectiveness Manager and work with QA, Development, Content, and Design to turn release risks into reliable, verified coverage.
  • Your first 12 months: establish baselines for escaped defects, repeat issues, QA turnaround, and total human effort. Turn change briefs and customer-journey evidence into reusable, risk-based coverage for ecommerce releases and A/B tests. Improve existing automation and use AI to produce test code, investigate failures, and prepare reporting, personally running, debugging, and validating the outputs. Maintain browser automation in Git and CI/CD with meaningful assertions and rerunnable execution evidence. Address recurring defects and unreliable tests through verified regression checks, preventive changes, and device/iOS monitoring and escalation. Coach the QA team to operate and maintain workflows independently, with clear ownership, documented handoffs, and required QA approval intact. Review revenue-based coverage monthly with Analytics and CRO, reporting measured results separately from estimates and including review, fixes, and maintenance in effort savings. Deliver high-quality improvements early and quickly, keeping unresolved risks visible and owning your work through verification and closure.

What Is In It For You:

This isn't just another quality engineering leadership role. This is your chance to become a true industry architect.

1. Set the Quality Engineering Standard

You set the coverage standards, build the automation, and own the outcomes

Within agreed release priorities, you'll choose low-risk test-design and debugging methods, refine automation and nonproduction QA workflows, and coach the team on automation quality. You'll keep required sign-off and release approvals intact, and escalate changes to release gates, unresolved production risk, live changes, sensitive-data use, spend, hiring, or team responsibilities.

2. Join a High-Performance Organization and Partner with the 1%:

  • 🏆 Puffy: Top 5 Mattress Brand in US with Over $1Billion USD in Sales
  • 🌍 Great Place to Work Certified
  • 💡 Join an AI-first organization led by a Forbes Council Member CEO. Your vision is the company's vision.

Gain firsthand exposure to strategic decisions and high-velocity execution that drives a global brand

3. Embrace Radical Flexibility

Work from anywhere in the world with meaningful time zone overlap. Structure your environment around your best thinking, whether that's a home office, a co-working space, (OR) our Dubai headquarters (with full relocation, visa support, and 0% income tax if you choose). Your output is your credential, not your location.

4. Become the Quality Engineering Leader Other Brands Try to Hire

In most companies, QA leaders inherit manual processes and spend their time chasing regressions after release. Here you build the system. When a critical ecommerce release is ready to ship, your test coverage and execution evidence are inputs to the decision, not a report on it afterwards. You'll leave with a quality engineering system you designed, implemented, measured, and transferred to an independent team - and proof that it reduced repeat issues and human effort without weakening required sign-off. Puffy has been AI-First since December 2023, so you'll build it with an AI-native toolbox behind you rather than repetitive manual checks in front of you.

What You'll Need:

  • Ecommerce and Shopify QA. Hands-on experience across product selection, PDPs, cart, checkout, and order completion, including discounts, bundles, free gifts, and express checkout. You understand Shopify customization and testing limitations.
  • Coding and browser automation. Strong coding and debugging capability, with experience building and maintaining browser automation using Playwright or an equivalent framework, plus practical Git and CI/CD capability. You can independently assess risks and design, build, run, debug, and validate QA automation.
  • UI/UX quality judgment. Strong judgment across browsers, devices, and viewport dimensions, including shorter mobile heights, first-fold visibility, and overlapping elements. You understand the differences between real-device testing, simulation, and emulation, including their limitations and when real-device evidence is required.
  • AI-assisted QA implementation. Proven personal implementation of AI-assisted QA workflows for test design, automation development, defect investigation, and reporting. You verify AI outputs through actual execution and retain evidence of validation and results.
  • Systems thinking. You identify root causes, prevent recurrence, maintain risk-based coverage, investigate unreliable tests, and establish release checks, monitoring, and escalation rules.
  • Measured personal delivery. You can explain personally delivered improvements and provide before-and-after results for quality, release speed, and human effort, including review, fixes, and maintenance.
  • Hands-on team leadership. You develop independent ownership, coach engineers, establish clear accountability, and achieve successful team adoption of improved workflows while retaining required QA approval.
  • Must be willing to work extended hours and weekends as needed.

Good-to-Have:

  • JavaScript/TypeScript experience.
  • SQL and analytics experience to prioritize coverage using customer traffic, revenue, and funnel data.
  • Accessibility and performance testing experience.
  • Specialist production monitoring, synthetic customer-journey checks, and incident investigation experience.
  • Formal people-management experience is preferred. Demonstrated coaching, accountability and successful team adoption are required.
