About CoVet

At CoVet, we're building AI-powered tools that help veterinary professionals spend less time on paperwork and more time caring for animals.

Veterinary teams are stretched thin. Long hours, administrative burden, and burnout are challenges across the industry. We're on a mission to change that. Our AI copilot helps veterinary professionals save time, improve workflows, and focus on what matters most: delivering exceptional patient care.

We're a globally distributed team united by a shared mission to support veterinary professionals through thoughtful technology. We move quickly, collaborate openly, and believe great ideas can come from anyone.

If you're excited by the opportunity to shape the future of veterinary medicine while working alongside an ambitious and supportive team, we'd love to meet you.

About the role

We're looking for a hands-on QA Lead to own and evolve our approach to quality across CoVet's web and mobile products.

This role combines strong technical QA expertise with leadership, judgment, and ownership. You'll work closely with Product, Engineering, and Design to establish testing standards, identify risks early, coordinate testing efforts, and ensure releases meet a consistently high quality bar.

You'll remain actively involved in testing while providing direction and mentorship to other QA team members. You'll help determine how testing should be approached across features and releases, improve the consistency and effectiveness of our QA processes, and play a key role in shaping our long-term automation strategy.

We're looking for someone who understands not only how to test and automate software, but how to build a scalable quality function. You'll know when manual testing provides the most value, what should be automated, where risk is highest, and how QA can be integrated throughout the development lifecycle rather than operating as a final checkpoint.

Exciting Opportunities in this Role

  • Own and evolve the QA strategy for an AI-powered product used by veterinary professionals around the world.
  • Set testing standards, processes, and best practices across web and mobile applications.
  • Lead release readiness and help Product and Engineering make informed decisions around quality and risk.
  • Mentor and support QA team members, helping strengthen testing methodology, technical skills, and consistency across the team.
  • Shape and execute our automation strategy, including determining what should be automated and how automation should be structured and maintained.
  • Work with modern development workflows and technologies, including Playwright, GitHub Actions, AI-assisted testing, and Agile delivery.
  • Partner closely with Product Managers, Engineers, and Designers throughout the development lifecycle to identify risks before they become defects.
  • Improve visibility into product quality through clear reporting on testing progress, defects, risks, and release readiness.
  • Help build scalable QA practices as our product, engineering team, and customer base continue to grow.

Qualifications

We're more interested in finding the right person than checking every box.

  • 6+ years of professional experience in Quality Assurance or Software Testing, including experience operating at a senior or lead level.
  • Experience testing both web and mobile applications.
  • Experience leading QA activities across features, projects, or releases.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor or provide technical direction to other QA professionals.
  • Strong experience working cross-functionally with Product and Engineering teams in an Agile environment.
QA Leadership & Strategy
  • Ability to establish and continuously improve QA standards, processes, and testing practices.
  • Experience developing test strategies and determining appropriate testing coverage based on product risk and business impact.
  • Ability to lead test planning and coordinate QA activities across multiple features or workstreams.
  • Strong judgment around release readiness, defect severity, prioritization, and acceptable levels of risk.
  • Ability to identify quality risks early and influence requirements, design, and implementation before development is complete.
  • Experience mentoring QA team members and reviewing test plans, test cases, and testing approaches.
  • Ability to communicate quality trends, risks, blockers, and recommendations clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Test Design & Methodology
  • Strong command of ISTQB-style test design techniques, including equivalence partitioning, boundary value analysis, decision tables, and state transition testing.
  • Ability to design and review structured, executable test cases with clear preconditions, steps, and expected results.
  • Strong understanding of testing types, including static, smoke, regression, exploratory, integration, functional, and end-to-end testing.
  • Deep understanding of the defect lifecycle and effective defect triage practices.
  • Strong understanding of Agile development workflows and how QA can add value throughout each phase of delivery.
  • Experience developing risk-based testing approaches that balance speed, coverage, and product impact.
Automation
  • Hands-on experience with web automation frameworks such as Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, or similar.
  • Ability to read, write, review, and maintain automated test suites.
  • Strong understanding of automation strategy, including determining what to automate, when to automate it, and when manual testing provides greater value.
  • Experience designing or influencing maintainable automation architecture, including Page Object Models, reusable components, data-driven approaches, stable selectors, and effective wait strategies.
  • Understanding of how automation strategy should apply across both web and mobile applications.
  • Experience incorporating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Mobile automation experience using frameworks such as Appium, Patrol, or Maestro is a plus.
  • We value thoughtful automation
