QA Manager - Robotics / Autonomous Mobile Robots

Job Description

A rapidly growing robotics company is seeking an experienced QA Manager to join its team.

In this role, you will be responsible for evaluating and testing Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs) and related systems, ensuring high levels of performance, reliability, and quality.

You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including hardware, software, technology, and production teams, to identify and resolve issues, improve testing processes, and continuously enhance the test environment.

Key Responsibilities

Performance Evaluation

  • Evaluate the performance of AMRs and automated battery charging systems through rigorous testing.
  • Develop and execute testing procedures to verify system performance and reliability.

Troubleshooting & Quality Support

  • Collaborate with hardware, software, and other technical teams to identify and resolve issues affecting robot functionality.
  • Support root-cause analysis and quality improvement activities.

Component Evaluation

  • Evaluate electronic components, circuit boards, and mechatronic assemblies to ensure overall system integrity.
  • Verify the quality and functionality of components used in robotic systems.

Lab Testing

  • Conduct and support testing activities in a robot test laboratory.
  • Work closely with technology and engineering teams during testing.

System Testing

  • Create test scenarios and execute comprehensive system-level tests.
  • Collect and analyze test data.
  • Identify and report bugs and other issues.
  • Prepare detailed test reports and testing documentation.

Test Environment Management

  • Set up and maintain test environments, equipment, and fixtures.
  • Create and improve testing environments to support ongoing development and quality activities.

Interface Coordination

  • Oversee system-level testing and coordinate technical transfers.
  • Act as an interface between software, hardware, integration, and other relevant teams.

Process Improvement

  • Improve testing processes and methodologies.
  • Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Manage and maintain comprehensive test documentation.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.

Experience

  • Professional experience in system testing, preferably in robotics, automation, or a related industry.
  • Experience working with both hardware and software components is preferred.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in Linux and ROS1/ROS2 command-line operations.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical system drawings.
  • Hands-on experience debugging both hardware and software.
  • Strong theoretical understanding of software/system testing practices and methodologies.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with test automation tools and methodologies.
  • Knowledge of functional safety and relevant industry standards.

Ideal Candidate

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong English communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Japanese communication skills are a plus.
  • Detail-oriented, with a strong commitment to quality and continuous improvement.
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Capable of managing priorities and driving projects through to completion in a dynamic environment.

Working Conditions

Working Hours

  • Standard working hours: 10:00 AM - 7:00 PM
  • Break: 60 minutes
  • A flexible working hours system may apply depending on the position.
  • There is a recurring meeting starting at 9:00 AM; attendance is optional. Recordings are available for those unable to attend.

Work Style

  • Remote work is available depending on job responsibilities.
  • Employees are expected to work on-site when testing or handling actual robots.

Allowances

  • Commuting expenses reimbursed based on actual costs.
  • Fixed overtime allowance equivalent to 30 hours of overtime per month.

Holidays & Leave

Holidays

  • Saturdays and Sundays
  • Year-end and New Year holidays

Paid Leave

  • 25 days of annual paid leave granted upon joining, prorated according to the month of entry.
  • National holidays are not designated as company holidays.
