Position Description:

The Quality Engineering Manager defines the Quality Engineering strategy and approach for all of the company's products and is ultimately responsible for driving and maintaining high standards of product quality. This role provides technical and people leadership to the QA organization, including QA Automation Engineers and QA Architects, and functional leadership to QA Engineers embedded in development teams. Working closely with Engineering, Product, Architecture and DevOps, you will make sure quality is built into the product from the start, and you will actively drive AI adoption across the QE organization.

What We’re Looking For:

Entrees (Requirements):

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience

• Quality Assurance and Quality Engineering experience across multiple projects, off-shore and in-house

• Strong technical leadership skills with experience in implementing and shaping company-wide QA and Quality Engineering processes, strategies and standards

• Strong technical skills across functional and non-functional testing, manual and automated testing, ideally in an Agile and continuous delivery environment

• Strong experience with test automation frameworks, CI/CD integration and modern software testing practices

• Experience leading and mentoring QA Automation Engineers, QA Architects and QA Engineers working across multiple development teams

• Excellent knowledge of Risk Management, Risk Identification and Risk-Based Testing

• Experience in managing large and complex activities, technical initiatives and processes

• Experience in developing and implementing scalable test automation strategies and frameworks

• Understanding of modern software development, CI/CD and continuous testing practices

• Demonstrated practical experience with AI-assisted testing, automation and engineering workflows, with the ability to identify valuable use cases, drive adoption and develop AI capability within a Quality Engineering organization

• Strong understanding of performance, scalability and reliability testing strategies for distributed, API-driven and high-volume production systems.

• Experience operating in modern continuous delivery environments with frequent releases, short-lived changes and trunk-based development principles.

Unleash your potential: What you will be doing and owning:

• Responsible for defining and continuously improving the Quality Engineering strategy, approach and execution across development projects

• Provide technical expertise and leadership within Quality Engineering, Test Automation and Software Testing

• Lead, mentor and develop QA Automation Engineers and QA Architects, while providing functional leadership and guidance to QA Engineers working within other development teams. Set clear expectations, actively coach individuals, address performance and capability gaps, and build a culture of ownership, accountability and continuous technical growth across the QE organization

• Continuously raise the technical capability of the QE organization, helping engineers expand beyond manual validation toward stronger skills in automation, API testing, performance testing, observability, CI/CD and AI-assisted Quality Engineering

• Participate in interviews, induction, training and performance evaluation of QA Engineers and other members of the QA organization

• Provide technical leadership and expertise within the field of Quality Engineering, Quality Assurance and Testing

• Ensure that development teams adhere to the principles, guidelines and best practices of the Quality Engineering strategy

• Drive a shift-left quality approach by ensuring that quality, testability and risk are considered throughout the entire software development lifecycle

• Focus on continuous quality improvements, including the adoption of appropriate testing tools, techniques, test automation and engineering practices

• Drive the development, standardization and maintenance of scalable and reliable test automation frameworks and solutions

• Promote the effective integration of automated testing into CI/CD pipelines and continuous delivery processes

• Define and evolve Quality Engineering practices for a continuous delivery environment where features may be released independently as they are ready, ensuring that quality practices support delivery speed rather than becoming a release bottleneck

• Establish testing and quality practices that support short development cycles, frequent integration and trunk-based development principles, with appropriate levels of automation, risk assessment and release confidence

• Define and maintain quality standards, testing methodologies and engineering practices across the organization

• Drive the adoption of appropriate testing approaches across functional, integration, API, end-to-end, performance, scalability and reliability testing, with particular focus on identifying performance regressions and production risks as early as possible in the development lifecycle

• Partner with Engineering and Architecture to establish appropriate performance baselines, quality gates and monitoring signals for critical product flows, and ensure that significant performance or reliability regressions are identified before reaching production

• Monitor QA activities, test results, escaped defects, quality trends and root cause analysis, and identify and implement areas for improvement

• Gather, analyze and present quality and testing metrics to key stakeholders, providing actionable insights into quality risks and trends

• Ensure the proper usage and continuous evaluation of QA tools and technologies to gain maximum benefit from the QA effort

• Own and drive the Quality Engineering AI adoption strategy, identifying practical use cases for AI across test design, test generation, automation, exploratory testing, test analysis, maintenance, defect analysis and engineering productivity

• Build practical AI capability across the QE organization by coaching and enabling QE Engineers to incorporate AI-assisted workflows into their daily work, while continuously evaluating their effectiveness, quality and appropriate use

• Evaluate emerging testing technologies and industry practices and identify opportunities to improve testing efficiency, coverage and quality through automation and AI

• Be an escalation point for all matters related to Quality Engineering, testing and quality assurance and operate as a primary point of contact for QA Engineers

• Direct the development of Quality Engineering strategy, methodology, discipline and frameworks, driving continuous improvement in automated and agile testing practices

• Provide technical expertise in Test Automation, Testing Methodologies, Testing Processes, Quality Engineering Practices, Tools and Techniques across the teams

• Work with QA Engineers, QA Architects, Engineering Managers and Director of Engineering to develop and execute Quality Engineering strategies that support and meet company quality goals

• Establish and promote quality ownership across development teams, ensuring that quality is treated as a shared engineering responsibility throughout the software development lifecycle and that QE operates as an enabler of fast, reliable delivery rather than as a final testing gate

• Identify quality risks, process gaps and opportunities for improvement and implement appropriate actions to improve the overall effectiveness and efficiency of the QA organization
