What you’ll be doing
- Conducting risk-based quality assurance reviews of transaction monitoring alerts, investigations and associated sanctions screening decisions.
- Assessing whether analysts have considered relevant customer information, transaction activity, supporting evidence and financial crime risks before reaching a decision.
- Checking that case records are clear, complete and supported by sound reasoning, including decisions to close alerts or escalate concerns.
- Reviewing the quality and timeliness of internal Unusual Activity Reports (UARs) and referrals to the MLRO, supporting the external suspicious activity reporting process where required.
- Assessing compliance with internal policies, procedures and applicable requirements, including investigation and escalation timeframes.
- Recording and grading QA findings consistently, providing practical feedback and escalating material concerns promptly.
- Identifying recurring issues and their root causes, and recommending improvements to procedures, training and controls.
- Tracking corrective actions and checking that identified issues have been properly addressed.
- Producing clear QA reporting on trends, recurring weaknesses and areas requiring management attention.
- Working with transaction monitoring colleagues, team leads and Compliance to maintain consistent review standards and share good practice.
- Highlighting potential gaps in monitoring rules or screening controls identified through case reviews.
- Keeping up to date with relevant financial crime typologies and regulatory developments, and reflecting these in QA reviews.
About you
- At least three years’ experience in AML or financial crime within financial services, ideally with hands-on transaction monitoring and investigations experience.
- Experience in quality assurance, quality control or reviewing other analysts’ work is strongly preferred.
- A good understanding of Luxembourg and EU AML/CTF and sanctions requirements; knowledge of UK requirements is an advantage.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to assess whether an investigation and its conclusions are supported by the evidence.
- Attention to detail, balanced judgement and confidence in challenging decisions constructively.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to give useful feedback and explain findings.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage review deadlines and follow up on outstanding actions.
- Confidence working with case management systems, spreadsheets and reporting tools.
- The ability to work independently while building effective relationships across teams.
- Business-level English; additional languages are welcome.
- A relevant degree or professional qualification, such as ICA or ACAMS, is an advantage but not essential.
In return for your hard work
- Competitive salary, stock options after 12 months and benefits.
- Hybrid working from our city-centre office in Luxembourg.
- Opportunities to contribute to projects beyond day-to-day responsibilities, develop your expertise and help improve how we work.
- A collaborative environment with room for professional growth.
