About The Role Nectir's QA process has outgrown the team built to run it, and we're investing in real capacity here as we scale. We're hiring an engineer who can build the automation that turns a ~60-minute manual QA pass into a 10-15 minute one, and who thinks about code review and release safety like an engineer, not a checklist. You'll work day-to-day with our current QA engineer as your closest collaborator, and report to our engineering leadership as we figure out where this role lands long-term; likely evolving toward software reliability as it grows. What You'll Do QA & Test Automation Evaluate and implement automated testing tools (e.g., Playwright-based frameworks, UI regression tools like Meticulous) to cut QA turnaround time. Write and maintain your own test scripts and automated checks, rather than relying on manual test passes. Take ownership of high-volume, repetitive QA work (like dependency/package upgrade PRs) so the team isn't bottlenecked on a single reviewer. PR Queue & Developer Collaboration Own visibility into the open PR queue — track how long PRs sit before and during QA, and flag where things are getting stuck. Build a clear handoff process between Dev and QA (tagging, status, communication) so PRs move faster in both directions. Proactively ask developers for what QA needs (screenshots, context, reproduction steps) instead of absorbing the delay silently. Release Reliability Help design phased, contained release rollouts that limit the blast radius of a bad deploy, beyond what feature flags alone can do. Grow into owning more of our release/rollout process as the role expands in an SRE direction. What We're Looking For Must-Haves An engineering background; you've written and shipped code, not just executed test cases. This isn't a traditional manual-QA role. Experience building and maintaining test automation (Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, or similar) in a real production environment. Comfortable pushing back, including with senior engineers, when a process or PR isn't ready to ship. Product-first instincts: you ask "what are we actually trying to achieve" before reaching for a technical or infrastructure solution. Nice-to-Haves Experience with release engineering, phased rollouts, or canary deployments Experience evaluating or standing up UI regression testing tools Interest in growing into a broader software reliability engineering role over time Background at a small, fast-moving team where you wore more than one hat Success Metrics Cut average QA pass time from ~60 minutes to 10-15 minutes Independently own and clear the dependency/package-upgrade PR queue within your first month Stand up full visibility into PR queue age, with a working tagging/handoff system between Dev and QA Evaluate and implement at least one automated front-end/UI regression tool Working at Nectir We're a startup, which means the work moves fast, but the impact is real. You will not be a small cog in a big machine here, but the one building the machine itself. This is a full-time, remote position, open to candidates anywhere in the US or Latin America. You should be comfortable working with a significant overlap with US business hours.
