Established in 2016 and headquartered in Munich, Germany, Blackwave has established a reputation for delivering high-quality COPVs with proven flight heritage. The company's innovative approach significantly reduces lead times from months to days, ensuring that each tank is thoroughly qualified and ready for flight. With a dedicated team of over 150 employees across manufacturing facilities in Germany and Texas, Blackwave is committed to advancing spaceflight safety and reliability. The company's mission is to eliminate COPV failures in spaceflight, contributing to safer and more reliable space missions.
About The Role
As a Quality Engineer (m/w/d) in the aerospace division of Blackwave GmbH, you will play a critical role in ensuring the highest standards of quality and reliability for our hardware components, specifically COPVs. Your primary focus will be on quality assurance processes throughout the entire product lifecycle, from supplier engagement and development stages to serial production. You will work closely with manufacturing teams on the shop floor, supporting process compliance and continuous improvement initiatives. Your expertise will help maintain the integrity of our products under extreme conditions encountered in aerospace environments, ultimately contributing to the company's mission of ending COPV failures in spaceflight. This full-time, permanent position offers an exciting opportunity to be part of a dynamic team pushing the boundaries of lightweight design and precision manufacturing in the aerospace industry.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a relevant engineering degree or equivalent qualification in quality management, production technology, or a related field. Proven experience in quality planning, risk management, and process auditing within a manufacturing environment is essential. Strong analytical skills and experience with root cause analysis tools such as 8D, Ishikawa diagrams, and 5-Why are required to identify and resolve quality issues effectively. Familiarity with applicable quality standards, particularly ISO9001, and practical implementation of compliance measures are highly valued. The candidate should demonstrate an independent working style, solution-oriented thinking, and a passion for precision and reliability. Excellent communication skills in English are mandatory, with proficiency in German considered an advantage for cross-departmental collaboration.
Responsibilities
Blackwave GmbH is committed to fostering an inclusive and diverse work environment. We provide equal employment opportunities to all applicants and employees regardless of race, color, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, age, disability, or any other protected status. We believe that diversity enhances our innovation and success and are dedicated to creating a workplace where everyone feels valued and empowered to contribute to our mission of advancing spaceflight safety.
