Description The Quality Engineer (Customer & Supplier) is an individual contributor responsible for managing key customer relationships, supporting critical supplier quality activities, and ensuring timely resolution of quality issues, mainly across the transportation segment but also aerospace, defense, and automotive segments in minor relation. This hybrid role provides direct customer-facing support for key U.S.- and Mexico-based accounts while also engaging in targeted supplier-facing responsibilities to maintain product conformity, compliance with industry standards, and operational excellence. This position is bilingual, requires strong communication, critical thinking, and technical acumen to advocate for both customer and supplier interests. The role reports directly to Director of Supplier Development with a dotted line to VP Total Quality and collaborates frequently with Sales, Corporate Product teams, and Mexico-based operations. This role is physically located in Saltillo, Coahuila, Mexico. What our Quality Engineer (Customer & Supplier) do: Customer Relationship & Key Account Management: Serve as the primary quality point of contact for assigned key customers. Manage recurring customer calls based on issue severity and business need. Communicate proactively and professionally with stakeholders at all levels in customer organizations. Advocate for customer requirements while maintaining balanced and objective problem-solving. Supplier Quality Support: Engage with suppliers on quality concerns, ensuring issues are escalated, documented, and resolved in coordination with internal Quality teams. Understand relevant industry standards (transportation, military, aerospace, defense) to interpret requirements and address claims or compliance concerns. Support the identification and communication of manufacturing or process deviations as needed. Quality Issue Resolution & Technical Communication: Lead or support corrective action activities for customer and supplier issues. Provide clear, professional technical communication—both written and verbal—when explaining compliance, product requirements, and root cause analysis. Collaborate closely with Sales and Corporate Product teams to ensure accurate, timely customer updates and replacement coordination. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work frequently with Sales as the first line of escalation for customer concerns, requirements, and expectations. Partner with Corporate Product and Order Management teams on claims, replacements, and technical escalations. Limited interaction with warehouse operations, focused primarily on already‑received product concerns. Standards, Compliance & Professional Expertise: Maintain working knowledge of 3–4 key transportation and military/aerospace industry standards to communicate effectively with customers and suppliers. Interpret and apply quality standards accurately to support data-driven decisions. Exhibit strong business acumen and professional judgment when navigating ambiguous or urgent situations. Continuous Improvement: Identify trends, risks, and recurring issues within assigned accounts or supplier streams. Recommend and support process improvements that enhance customer satisfaction and reduce quality-related disruptions. Adapt to evolving customer needs and embrace change as part of the organization’s continuous improvement culture. What we look for: Bachelor's degree ideal in Supply chain or Industrial/Electronics Engineering or similar. 5+ years of experience in a similar customer or supplier facing quality role (transportation, automotive, military, aerospace, or related). English language proficiency (verbal and written). Desired experience working with Mexico based operations or cross border customer support. Strong critical thinking, business acumen, and decision‑making skills. Excellent written and verbal communication; comfortable interacting with all levels of customer and supplier organizations. Ability to understand and reference key industry standards in transportation, military, aerospace, or defense sectors. Strong organizational skills; able to manage multiple active issues simultaneously. Proficiency in Microsoft applications (Excel, Outlook, Word, Explorer). Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and adapt to changing priorities. No formal certifications required, though familiarity with industry standards is essential. Requires some travel, amount varies depending on territory assigned. Must be located in Saltillo, Coahuila.
